Landlord wants to sell - I don't want viewings...

if you say no viewings and you get given your notice, then whilst looking for a new place, none of the existing tenants or landlords in those places are allowing others to look around, would you be happy?...I know it's a drag and a hassle, been there done that. BUT it does appear incredibly selfish that you can't put aside a certain period each week, even if you have to change it each week too.
The LL/LA for this property has (a) failed to register the tenancy deposit and (b) failed to get a gas safety check/certificate. Both of which are "pretty selfish" acts, and both of which constitute a flouting of the most basic LL&T laws:hardly likely to encourage warm feelings & a generosity of spirit from the T towards the LL/LA. It's ""pretty selfish" to want to have it both ways, ie enjoy the benefits of having a T (property occupied and money coming in) and yet simply expect to intrude upon their family life as and when it suits.
The fact is that Ts do tend to allow viewings towards the very end of their tenancy, particularly when the LL has shown themselves to be fair: in this case, neither the LL nor the T has given notice so the tenancy may be continuing for quite a lengthy period of time with yet more of these intrusions on the horizon , and both the LL/LA appear to have failed to meet their own very basic legal obligations towards the T, demonstrating an arrogance that is all too familiar to those who deal with tenancy issues. The combination of unqualified, untrained, ignorant, unregulated LAs and "reluctant" amateur LLs do not offer a sound basis on which a mutually respectful LL& T relationship can be built, unfortunately.0 -

All of us, and that includes you and me, need to understand that what we post in a forum is open to getting “read” in different ways by different people: you found my post “harsh”, I (and others, it seems) find your turn of phrase unfortunate, but the fact is that it’s best to not to be over-sensitive nor take too personally anything that gets posted up on an internet forum.
I hope the sun shines for you and that you have a good weekend0 -

Shelters says you can change the locks. I have on the house I rent and did that as soon as I moved in. I always do when I move house and renting is no different to me.
"You may even be able to change the locks if you want to. However, this doesn't apply to:- excluded occupiers (eg people lodging in the landlord's home and most people living in hostels), or
- certain occupiers with basic protection (eg students in halls of residence and people who have to live in their home in order to do their job)."
Re references, when I was asked for previous landlord references, I explained I had just sold my house and had never rented before. The letting agent then said they wouldn't bother with references then. The house had been empty for 2 months and the LL was getting desperate.
I would only allow viewings once notice has been given. So if you give your 1 months notice, the LL only has one month to find a buyer and sell the house. You can't be expected to give viewings in the last two months, if you have only just realised you want to move, as you are only required to give 1 months notice.
I would also ration the viewings to strictly one viewing block per week. I would of course, expect to be given at least 24 hours notice of those viewing in writing and to asked if the time is convenient to me. Unless I was offered £50 a viewing (payable in advance) as that would put a different slant on things:DRENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

Good luck, OP.
Loved the anti-House Doctoring ideas!
So do people who shop at Matalan have obvious mental health issues then? This has always escaped me. Maybe because I've shopped there too.
Oh no, I see a pattern emerging.0 -
