Im sure you have more than £50 odd pound a week to live off.
No I am within my 13 weeks assessment phase and they only pay me £50.95 every week, that's it! And my partner is not getting anything at the moment, as his 6 months contributions based JSA has now come to a end and he's not entitled to anything, so we are trying to get him put onto my claim...... So yes we are only living off £50 a week at the moment
Thank youMarried the love of my life on 1st October 20110 -
They will firstly look at whether they feel they will have a large sum of money invloved with her fraud, they can then watch people and check on bills, follow them around the supermarket all sorts. Once they have lots of evidence she will be interview and prosecuted.
For smaller offences they will send a compliance office round to establish the living together then calculate any overpayments of benfit or expect the person to own up and sign off immediately.
They will look into it just takes time. Well done for reporting her.:T0 -
Thanks. I filled that form in twice, the first time 3 months ago and nothing has still been done. Is there a better way to report someone?
What makes you think nothing is being done? They don't tend to inform people of what they are doing. They are very discreet and could had her under surveillance for all that time. They also obtain information from third parties such as banks and the like.
They don't get a report and just pull someone in. All that does is give people time to hide what they are doing/have been doing. They have to investigate it.

There are thousands of people committing fraud every day, most of them are never caught, more should be dont to combat it i think .It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.0

hi
I work full time with 3 kids. In 2005 i was overpaid £7K in tax credits which i told them about 3 times over 6mts. How i'm in debt and need help really badly i'm being treated like a crimnal over this money which they did'nt even know was missing until i phoned them a week ago!!!.
Why should people be able to "work the system" and get away with it. I totally agree that some people on benefit boast about how much they get and tell me i'm a mug for working! .
Before anyone says i'm bitter, i'm not i just want to support myself.inneedofcash

from experience...
The fraud people don't really investigating this type of fraud because it's hard to prove that people are a couple rather than friends.
They prefer to find someone working when they are signing on or claiming disability. it's hard to argue against this in court
However if they feel that a number of people can give evidence that they are living together they may persue it. Get neighbours to call in too and keep a log of when these two people are living together. Get a few people to keep a log then it won't look like a claim from a vindictive neighbour.
I used to live in a street where the girlfriend of an ex-premier footballer lived with him and claimed all the benefits she could. she still does it to this day i think.0 -
The truth of the matter is that they don`t catch anyone unless someone "shops" them.
They rely on people spying on each other and reporting them for revenge or envy.
The benefit system and all the "fraud" that takes place is down to a government that can`t or wont sort it out from top to bottom.
There is something fundamentally wrong when people, who have never paid a penny in,can come along and get free housing and all manner of benefits.
And at the same time, others who have worked and paid in all their lives, are put through hoops just to get something that they are entitled to.
Of course the biggest "fraud" are the government themselves.0 -

How do you know this? You read it in the Daily Mail perhaps? usual tactics of a discredited ruling class ... divide the poor against each other to divert attention from the government etc that screw them0 -

I feel there is something really wrong here, your allowance is what the law says YOU need to live on not support a partner, please go to CAB as soon as possible. Best wishes, Its hard enough to support one person on this let alone two, do hope you sort it outSealed pot challenge 5430 -

Just wondered, if you knew you were being overpaid and told the tax credit people several times, why didnt you just put the monies aside in case they came chasing after you for it??? this isnt meant as a dig at you, i promise, its just that i wondered.0
