What is the best way to report someone for benefit fraud? A "single" mum is living with someone claiming income support and housing benefit. He works full time.

How do I report her and how long will it take for action to be taken?

*UPDATE*
Ok an update on this situation. The single mum in question is now 4 months pregnant and getting married in 3 months.

She has told a relative that even after they get married she will still claim her and the bf live apart as he as another address and if so "they cannot touch her".

She is very open about her arrangement. I for one am outraged that the powers that be sit back and do nothing in these type of situations.

Thanks. I filled that form in twice, the first time 3 months ago and nothing has still been done. Is there a better way to report someone?

It takes time, 3 months is not long to investigate what benefits are being claimed and then start looking for proof to back up your claim.

There used to be rules about boy/girlfriends only being allowed to stay over so many nights a week and you still being classed as a single person. But now I think there are no guidelines if you can prove you are not living as a couple then you can still claim.

Give it time they will soon monitor timings on leaving and coming to the house, what washing gets hung on the line and at what time (you can't do your own washing and hang it out if you are at work) also who does the shopping etc.
Once they have all the evidence then she will be called in for an interview and asked to explain what they have found.

Because she is a close relative and is very open about it (to my mum anyway)

I did not know that. I thought they would just send someone round or send a letter, put the frighteners on and hope that is enough to scare someone into being honest.

No wonder there is so much fraud!

Tried that. She thinks it is funny. Too busy getting pi**ed. I couldn't care less if she knows I reported her. In fact when I said that someone might report her, she said they never do anything anyway. Looks like she is right.
