All,
I have a bare bathroom so nothing needs removing, walls already plastered, there will be need to be new pipework run to the Bath, Vanity Unit, and the Toilet is going where it always used to be, i have had a quote for £850 to fit the all 3 items, and do the boxing in as well.
I thought it was steep. This is to lay boarding on the floor as well.0 -
just had another quote, £800 to install and do the tiling and paint the ceiling, we need to buy the pipes and fittings!0

Errrm how much tiling is there to be done? Concur what plumb said. This one sounds like you'll need a hitching post installing at your front gate.just had another quote, £800 to install and do the tiling and paint the ceiling, we need to buy the pipes and fittings!

Hi everyone,
I would appreciate your help as I got quote for my bathroom and my sister says it's too expensive while my hubby says it's reasonable.
I need everything that is currently there taking out and the chances are high that the plaster will come off so it will need plastering. Sink is currently under the window and will need moving to the left wall from the window (where the bath currently is) and the bath will go under the window.
There is approximately 17m2 of wall and 4m2 of floor to be tiled. The tiles are travertine tiles, which I've been told makes difference because it will need sealing and special grout (sp?) because it's natural stone. Fitting of new electric shower and new towel rail heater, which will be connected to my current heating system as well as have electric connection.
Also fitting of new spot lights.
All this work has been quoted for £2400. They will supply all the basic material (such as grout etc) and I supply tiles and bathroom suit.
Is this reasonable?
Thank you0 -
that is very reasonable, seen as it is travertine i would be slightly more expensive and am based in the midlands.... make sure they are using a tanking membrane and a high quality impregnating sealer0

Plaster will not take the weight of travertine, Plasterboard will be on the limit so you may require cement board/wedi board ec
Plaster can carry 20kg per sqm
Plasterboard 32

I have several friends with travertine tiles and none of them had any problems with anything like that?0
