  • That is annoying...after a long day, that could end horribly for the idiot asking you. The truth is, no matter what you happen to be wearing, its surely not exactly the same as a testco or asda uniform. The first thing you should think before asking help in one of these places is, "does he/she work here?"
Me: Would you like a drink?

Old Man: I don't drink anymore [awkward silence] that being said...I dont drink any less either!

"Bored of" me? I THINK you mean "Bored WITH" me.
Why should I give it a rest? I'm as entitled to post my opinion as anyone else. More so in fact since the range of jobs I have had gives me an overall view that someone who went from school into retail and then stayed there for years cannot possibly have!

I THINK the OP meant "bored of your sh*t". You seem to have an attitude as if to say that you are better than everyone who works in retail.

Everyone is entitled to whinge and whine about aspects of their job as much as you are entitled to your opnions. Especially as this is the VENT section of the forums. People may whinge and moan about things at work but it doesn't mean that they don't enjoy their jobs.

You're just jealous cos in 12 more working days "School's Out For Summer!"

Six weeks of fun, freedom and hopefully sunshine. Can't wait.

I LOVE my job - you'll never catch ME whinging and whining about it come September when it is time to go back. I love the holidays but I love the work too.

Your post above is funny. Once. If you choose to post like it again I will report you for abuse and add you to my ignore list.

  • I once worked in a snooker club and someone hit me with a snooker cue because I informed him that he was not allowed to bring his owm pizza in and eat it (written in the membership rules which he got when he applied).

Though I remember one occasion had barely slept due to the funny shifts and extra hours, I was unescessarliy huffy with a customer he made a complaint, and I actually remembered who he was because I was in a acceptionally bad mood. I apologised to him the next time I saw him and gave him a couple of money off vouchers. Fortunatly he was a reasonable chap he accepted my apology and said " We all have off days". He then wrote a letter to my boss explaining that I had aplogised and was happy with the outcome!

One time I was in Virgin Records (used to be tower records in L Square) My mate had a go at the staff member for not doing her job as quickly as he wanted it! He got a good telling off from me, I said chill out, a please and thank you costs you nothing!

One thing I hate is if you go in a pub, a group of people buy drinks, they go back to the bar without taking their empties. They are going that way anyway!

I have worked in A&E and some people who came in were there to be rude and obnoxious.Nothing you said or did made any difference. We ended up calling security loads of times. And A&E is staffed by people who have received training in communication skills.Shouting at A&E staff or check-out boys/girls-both are equally disgusting and no one deserves to be treated like that.

So there's absolutely nothing at all that you dislike about your job? Presuming from the comments you're a teacher - obnoxious kids, paperwork, run down classrooms, low supplies, cheap biscuits in the staffroom, annoying colleagues, etc, etc, etc? And if any of the above annoy you, do you have a wee moan every now and then? Ever? If you say no I simply don't believe you! I adore my job but there are things I dislike, and I vent about them. Because if we didn't, these little, insignificant things would build up and eat away at us, and that would leave us resentful and unhappy.

The staff just have to cope or get another job away from people!

Golly, which jobs are those where you don't have to deal with people? I looked for years and couldn't find one. Unfortunately the mortuary business wasn't hiring (and you still have to deal with live people, i.e. mourners).

Nope - nothing. The children are well behaved and biddable, school is justifiably popular and oversubscribed, resources are OK, colleagues are great, one of the parents works for Fox's so our staffroom is well stocked with biscuits, school was built 4 years ago so not run down but clean and modern. Need I go on?

Paperwork is part of the job. I don't dislike it - record keeping makes reports easier to write.

Why do I now feel like I have to apologise for being happy with my lot?

I have nothing to complain about but the job did not just land in my lap - I had to work for it.

Presumably any job which does not involve a till or dealing directly with customers would be fine. The original post is about till jockeys.

Did you try ice trucker? Shepherd? Lighthouse keeper? Single handed ocean racing sailor?

Well, fair enough. No need to apologise, although I get the feeling you wouldn't anyway.

I'll join the rest of the country in saying - TGIF tomorrow!
