There are a few palaces with 10 letters, but the only one with 11 is Hampton Court - and I cant find a reference that it was ever one word instead of two. Though Capability Brown was Head Gardener there.

The Elfin Oak is a 900-year-old tree stump in Kensington Gardens in London, carved and painted to look as though elves, gnomes and small animals are living in its bark.
The hollow log originally came from Richmond Park, and was moved to Kensington Gardens in 1928 as part of George Lansbury's scheme of public improvements in London. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfin_Oak)
George Lansbury was incarcerated in Pentonville prison, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Lansbury) which fits the number of letters, but I can't find the European drive link between Kensington Gardens and one of the characters in St Pauls.
It's kind of near Holland Street, Holland Road and Holland Park Avenue becomes Bayswater Road which runs alongside the park, but that's quite tenuous.
And I have to go to bed else I'll never be up for work tomorrow.

just an idea- I'm not overly convinced as the link from the history scribe to his neighbour to a european drive is still missing. I'll leave that to you night owls. Have fun! And thanks for all the ideas on the way.

Can I just add this was my partner staying up to try to work this one out. We are still trying to find a link between the Euroupean Drive and someone buried in St Pauls, so if anyone else has any ideas, please, please keep them coming.

    Thanks.

There's a West Carriage drive and a North Carriage Drive to the left of Kensington Gardens on the Google Map
