You cannot report someone for benefit fraud if they're not claiming benefits so why would the 'social security fraud squad' have any interest in OP?
as mentioned before I put an application in / on doctors certificate / no reply from dwp within 4th week now / thus, claim is not active yet!!0 -
I have a dream ..
that people start liking each other ...
that they try and see the good in everyone ...
that they try and help each other when in need ...
and most of all, that they trust each other...
particularly on a website, which is meant to inform and help each other..
well, well - I will try and hold on to my dreams! In the meantime, try and think hard of what some of you are doing on this website!!
love to all0 -
But why would the DWP be watching you if you are not yet receiving any benefits?
I'm really puzzled now.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

So why do you mistrust the people at the DWP and suspect that someone at your health centre is doing something behind your back? Shouldn't you be the first one to apply your dreams to your own life?0 -

but for people to help others they need to give the right information or the whole story and also the 1 asking for help needs to not get ratty when the answers posted arent the answers the OP were expecting0 -

Why would someone have to ring the clinic to say you were there? Surely the clinic knew you were there, because you were there?
Plus, if I was doing a class and someone was watching the class who had not been introduced I would ask why they were there and who they were. Just as if a trainee nurse / GP sits in on a consultation, I expect to be told who they are, rather than just accept some random person sitting in without explanation.
Maybe someone was just observing the class to see if they thought they'd like to participate next week? Maybe it was just coincidence that they arrived at the same time as you and had to wait?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
And if by some odd chance it is *them* and they are there, they will just be building up an overall picture about whether you are disabled/ill like you say you are. They can do this. Going to a gym class will not necessarily jeapordise your claim and may well strengthen it. Like I said about my mate with DSD earlier, some days she's fine, some she isn't. She tries to swim twice a week on her doctor's advice. The 'disability squad' know this about ailments. But what you're asking is, if you claim disability allowance, are officials allowed to spy on you. The answer is, yes, they are. Whether they do so randomly or on some info, I don't know, but they can and they do. Can you think why that might be?
Oh and by the way, I have a dream too. That dream is that we have a welfare state that supports the weak, the needy, the old and the young. I want decent education for children, decent healthcare and dignity for the elderly and sick. All funded by the state, freely available to all who need it. This demands that healthy adults work and pay taxes to support that system. Sadly, that ideal is abused so I fully support checks because otherwise, how can we ensure the vulnerable are protected and the cheats are exposed? It's not a bottomless pot. To me, people who abuse that are a gross abuse of MY (and everyones) human rights. Those are my principles. That is my dream.:idea:0 -
Someone sceptical may say she has been signed off for 3 months by a doctor by saying she cannot walk very far for example, then realises she may have been followed walking naturally and freely to a clinic for acupuncture. Now panicking thinking the DWP may turn down the claim, the OP feels her privacy has been infringed.0

I am in a position, where I could possibly claim a form of disability allowance (I don't at the moment).
If the authorities wanted to contact my doctor, or a clinic, or specialist, just to make sure that I was attending classes/treatment, then I would be more than happy. I would positively encourage them to "spy" on me, because I do not have anything to hide. There are so many false benefit claims, and so many dishonest, so called disabled people, that the government has every right to target the thieves.
I only wish the government applied the same standards to itself.0 -
chi-gong is a chinese exercise system that involves raising the arms, legs and twisting and turning the body. The OP has nothing to worry about unless they are telling the DWP they cannot move their arms or legs or have much movement in their body.0
