My November wedding.My final preparations for the big day,mse style.

We are planning on doing the few speeches before dinner, partly to get them out of the way so people can stop stressing about it then relax & enjoy the meal etc. When I told the manageress at the hotel she said it was a great idea as after the meal people can scatter a little ie off to the bar, loo, out for a cig etc & it can be a bit difficult to gather everyone back in as it were. Perhaps not such an issue with such a closer group as yours iyswim? but worth bearing in mind for others.
So glad the Dundee Uni link was useful I will keep my fingers X'd you get someone.
I was reluctant to post it as I emailed them ages ago re a student photographer who might be interested in doing our photos & still havent heard anything back.

I e-mailed the staff memebr for chaplaincy services I think it was,I just thought wedding,chaplain sounds about right.He mailed me back within 10 mins.

Hmmm?so speeches before or after dinner.If before dinner it does get them out of the way and saves people from longer torment of they are very nervous about making their speech.
On the other hand having them after the dinner would let peoples food settle for 1/2 hour before the dancing.I dont think I would be able to do my first dance straight after a 5 course dinner.Think I will keep my order as it is for now,its not a difficult thing to change even last minute if need be.

I found this it says about red and white flowers are avoided by the superstitious because they signify bloody and bandages, they also say to avoid peonies in the boquet as they represent shame.

I'd take it with a pinch of salt unless you are seriously superstitious.

Wow,there are so many superstitions,if you believed them all you would be too scared to get married at all.
Best just to go for what you like.Red and white look gorgeous together.
I dont know what flowers I am getting on the day as MIL2b is getting those and I am letting her choose them too,all I said was my fav flower is the deep purple lisianthus so hopefully I get some or lots of those.

Little update,
deposit has been sent of to the new cheaper photographer and I have chosen my string ensemble ,they were the first ones to respond to my e-mail,and have asked them where to send a deposit to.
Getting back on track now thankfully.

I can,t believe I spent weeks searching for the perfect quartet last year and it all went wrong,then I spend a few hours searching online and book someone just like that,why could it not have been that simple initially?I am not even going to bother choosing a playlist apart from my entrance music,I will let the quartet(I decided it was worth that little bit extra for the quartet rather than the trio)decide their own playlist,after all they have been to more weddings than I have and will be experts at that.

What to plan next?
Still to plan the table and venue decos,although most of that will be flowers which are a surprise for me so I will do everything else just plain white,lots of white candles and purple lights.

Have to make my invitations etc but at least I know what I want to make now and one trip to confetti or a big craft shop should do for supplies.

Have to buy my wish lanterns and sparklers.Will get them soon with some extra so we can try them out before the wedding.

Must meet celebrant really soon and discuss ceremony content.

I have been looking into table cloths for the venues massive banqueting table and they are so expensive.The biggest one I could find wasn,t even long enough and it was over £100.I am being fussy with the tablecloth as I am just going for plain white so I want a really fantastic heavy weight pure white linen.
I have decided to make one with napkins too as it must be cheaper.
I dont even have a sewing machine but I saw one somewhere for £20,think it was tesco.
Okay so how much do you think linen costs?Cant find any online.Found fabric shops but no online prices.
