Selling stuff on ebay for 99p

Did you send 2nd class? Sounds to me like they went 1st class, also most can fit through a letter box so make sure they are being sent as large letter and not a packet.
Yeah, ebay's free p&p rule has killed the dvd category completely. They are now wishing to do so with the other categories, nuts if you ask me.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I weighed it etc. The bloke classed them as packages rather than letters. He reckons it's cos I put bubble wrap inside! If anyone else sells dvds on there please let me know how to get around it so it's sent as a letter. By the way it was sent as second class0

My advice is get a post office measuring thingy, if the item passes through the small slot it'll be a standard letter, if it passes through the large slot (basically the size of a standard letterbox) it'll be classed as a large letter, if neither then it'll be a packet. This has to be combined with the weight too.
Sounds like the guy at your post office didn't measure the parcels and just put them through as packets so its probably his fault not yours.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I think it is just called a Royal Mail Measure but i picked mine up on ebay for about £3 inc postage. Has made easier packing and judging p&p costs for my listings. If you have one of those i think you could easily just use paypal to pay for postage but i'm no expert on that as my new post office is just 2 mins away so better advised by someone who uses it.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0

Thanks for the replies. The bloke put it in one of those 'letter box' things and classed it as a package. He didnt bother with the other two because they were more or less the same size. I'm posting another few later and want to know roughly how to get it classed as a letter. I've got quite big envelopes and put a bit of bubblewrap round the dvd cases. I have to admit i'm a little bit annoyed at paying 1.50 to post dvds , some of which are still in the wrapper as I haven't opened them, when i've only 'made' 99p minus ebay's greedy percentage. Losing a few pennies doesn't bother me but going out of your way, getting the posting stuff, wrapping it, queing and then making a 70p loss is a bit of a joke!
Then again I shouldn't have put them on there without checking that the p+p had been removed from the site. Safe to say after I waste sending the rest of the dvds and cds I wont be using ebay again!0 -
for small value items, best sell job lots (NO CHARGES!) on gumtree, freeads etc.
i think friday-ad also do occasional free entries.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

If you post them without the bubble wrap, just in a strong envelope, then they will be able to go as large letter. I've sold a few and posted them in A4 envelopes folded over and sellotaped, so they were kind of double wrapped, and they all got there fine.0

Yep - sounds like you are wrapping them a little too well which means they dont fit through the slot when he tests it, hence then it is classed as a packet. Poundland sell medium sized jify style envelopes, these are perfect for dvds.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0

When you pack the item make sure it is within the measurements to be classed as a large letter.Mummy of 3 lovely munchkins :smileyhea0 -
I always check the completed items to see what a particular DVD would sell for.
If it's a small amount then I'd take it down the charity shop.0
