Tell them he works for the blood transfusion service and is only tlaking to them as is interested in changing their views....

I get very little aggro from the JWs since I taught a few of their kids over the course of time - so they'll stop, chat about how they're doing but they know they're not going to convert me!

Hahaha hadn't thought of that! To be fair they still knock on all the other doors, don't think we have been singled out yet! The elderly asian lady across the road physically shoos them away from her front door with her broom, and shouts something in Punjabi. It's hilarious! She does it to all cold callers, and provides much amusement for the rest of the street.

Funnily enough I am a doctor and give people transfusions on a rather regular basis, so not sure they would want me!

I have a sign saying I don't buy from cold callers and they all knock anyway and then say they have only just noticed the sign when I answer the door - I've decided that is one of their tactics to avoid taking note of it!

I used to let them give their spiel and then say no thanks, but now I say 'ok, now you've noticed it, bye' and shut the door.

Same with telephone callers - they always call just as you've got the LO to sleep, or just as you sit down to feed them!

I tell them I am registered with the TPS and ask that they remove me from their list but a recent one tried to tell me they can call because they had a chat with me a year ago. Um, no they did not! Why on earth would I, a tenant with recently replaced windows, discuss double glazing with them??

The same company rang while I was at work one day and told me I'd spoken to them a year ago on that number too! :mad: Seems I have quite an interest in double glazing....

My advice is to make it a strongly worded notice if you do use one and get caller display on your phone if you don't already have it!

Tell them you're a witch and watch them run... alternatively do what I do - tell them they can have 10 minutes of MY time to tell about their religion... IF I can have 10 minutes of theirs to tell them about mine first... :cool:

I do not wish to change my religion, my windows or my utility supplier.

I have actually told them that i'm a practicing witch it was nice to see them shift sooo fast:rotfl:
Best one that i had though were the mormons who called one morning the kids were driving me nuts, they called at perfect timing as OH was up in the loft, 12 year old was having a strop, and the little ones were trying to climb the loft ladder repeatedly even after being told not to, so as i answered the door one of the lads opening comment was "would you like to be with your family when you cross over to the other side" - to which he got the reply "you have got to be kidding put up with this lot no thanks i'd rather go to hell" - his face was a picture and i rendered him speechless.

But to answer the OP my grandparents have a sticker that they bought in a triangle shape that states no leaflets, junk mail or cold callers and they don't get any and haven't for years.

We get no end of callers/menus ( from places that are 10 miles away, do not deliver and charge extra to deliver to me! ) religous callers, charity people etc...always seems to be on my day off, when im in the middle of doing something, or doing some clicker training with the mutts ( very annoying when mutt has very nearly "got" what he is being asked to do, and then an uninvited person disturbs )

So now, all fliers / brochures get put into the letter box, charity bags used as bin bags, utilities are told that I dont believe in heating, and religous callers are grilled ( haha ) as to where the mentions of Dinosaurs are in their books and whats an athiest?
