Soon to be Mum & Door Callers

I am due to have a baby; due date is 21 June but obviosuly could come anytime between now and beyond.

I have been on maternity leave for the past 5 weeks and the number of people we have leaflet dropping and door-to-door sales is ridiculous! We have several clothing collection leaflets, fast-food menus and charity bags posted during the week! The other week I had just dozed off in the afternoon only for the letter box to go and wake me with quite a start. I know it's ony people posting stuff, but it still disturbs you all the same.

Once I have had the baby I will need all the rest I can get, and I certainly don't want the letterbox going all the time. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do to limit or stop this in any way. I have thought about putting a sign up but do these actually work???

Thanks in advance.

You don't live in my street do you?

Same here, all the way through my pregnancy when I was off on the sick and still since the baby was born (he's 5 weeks now)

Just last week we had 3 menus, 4 charity bags (and i use the term charity loosely) and 1 cold caller. It's a bloody nusciense and drives me up the wall!

P.S. Hope the rest of your pregnancy and the birth goes fine :)

Stick a "no leaflets, brochures or free newspapers" sign on your letterbox. My parents have one and the only person to ignore it is the person who delivers a severely fundamentalist Christian newspaper telling them they're going to hell.

Put up a sign saying "no junk mail" and they shouldn't post. If they do, call the local number and have a rant. Or maybe selotape your letterbox after the postie has been in the morning?

If you do a sign you could mention the newborn baby in aswell so they know why

Does anyone read the pizza and taxi junk mail.
I can't be the only one that take it straight from the front door to the bin at the back.

If the signs don't work what about a letter box on the wall outside and seal up the one in the door, at least you wouldn't be disturbed by that one. We've been away for 4 days and came home to 3 clothing collection bags and 2 fast food leaflets and this was a quiet week!

When I worked from home this drove me mad. Two or three times a week the doorbell would ring and somone would be selling, doing a survey, reading the meter, etc etc. Always seemed to be just as I had settled down to do a difficult task too!

I have a sign that says, nightshift worker do not ring bell, its untrue but i dont have a problem anymore, the no cold caller sign never seemed to work..
