I i forgot, the other reason why i would not lend tools/equipment out is if the person had an accident with it,they could potentially claim against me.

Cut lawn and keep fit...really MS

The thing is she has no where to keep it !
At first i was going to have a go at the OP, i thought she should buy a lawnmower and not depend on borrowing off others, particularly when she does'nt know them very well, but 'cos it's such a small flat the onus should be on the land lord.
As difficult as it seems, you need to ask him, if he has several properties he should have someone who'll go arond them all.

No they couldn't unless you had a contract with them.
If you hire something and pay money then yes a contract, goods would need to be in good order and safe etc. - but not a neighbourly act...

And then throw it away because I don't have anywhere to keep one.

I was proud of myself. I can't "just ask" people things, ever... it's taken me about 18-20 months of seeing her and her mower to pluck up the courage to ask.

Well done to you, just a pity you didnt ask before I bet she would have said yes. As it i
is now your really do need a strimmr. Trying to cut really long grass with a mower is quite likely to burn her mower out. Are you anywhere near a car boot, I got my strimmer for five pounds and an almost brand new mower for 4 pounds

I don't understand this bit... I have to be here to plug it in. I don't want the interaction.

Sorry, I thought you were just bothered about having him in the house. :o

IMO, I don't think it's any of his business whether or not you put stuff away.

Would he let you have his lawnmower for a couple of days so you could do it yourself? If he's busy, he might jump at the chance.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Maybe, but looking at the logistics I'll have to leave it a few more weeks.

When he did it last it took him (fit/able) 3 hours to do it, so I'd have to find a 3 hour slot minimum, in daylight, when it's dry.

I am at work all day every day now and my Saturdays/Sundays are occupied with car repairs, hair cuts, outfit buying to go away in just under 2 weeks' time. Then when I get back I'll be at work again for another week, so it'd be a minimum of 3 weeks before I could even diarise being here 3-4 hours, which I can't do until close to that time as I'd have to see what the weather's like that weekend.

I don't know the local area that well and don't have time to find out where/if there are any car boots for another 3 weeks.

I've just realised what your 'addy' is, perhaps if she lives near you, you can pop around.
