A lodger is a really good idea, and the money is tax-free as you say. Worth reading threads such as "Big Badger House" for tips on how to avoid nightmare lodgers (and it's very funny too!). If you have a head for figures, you could learn matched betting as this income is also tax-free!

Good luck with the surveys: it won't make your fortune but it all adds up! Also you can do surveys and matched betting from the sofa so not as tiring as overtime. Your family must be really proud of you with your own home, working so hard and going back to college.

    Today has been quite productive.

Done all the washing and used the nice weather to dry most of it.

Cleaned the bathroom, will do the rest of the cleaning tomorrow.

Joined DooYoo, Im at 6390 just now. Im going to aim for getting the £50 by the middle of next week. If I really go at the reviews tomorrow I think I can do it =) Ill then put the £50 straight to the credit card.

Rec'ed email to say I have been accepted for pinecone after all those extra questions and that I should get my first invite for a survey within the next couple of days.

Checked the survey sites Im apart of, some are ages away from anything tangible BUT I have sat and done a good few reviews on DooYoo and Im at 17590, aiming for the £50 so im almost at the half way point. After dinner im going to keep going til im at least at 25000. If I can get to the £50 any more over than that will stay in my account to go towards my overdraft next month.

Get paid on Friday and working over the weekend so unlikely Ill be spending much before I get my I am paid again. I get paid weekly from one job and monthly from the other.

Oh good for you, you seem to be doing lots, and will polish this off in no time. And congratulations on getting a house - I'm 15 years behind you there! Hard graft now, but in ten years you'll be in a great position.

Now wondering whether I should try these surveys. I joined Quidco, but couldn't think of anything to buy through it, and haven't had time to go back to the site since anyway. Some use I am...

I plan on leaving scottish gas after I have paid the next bills and using quidco to find another supplier. Although Ill have to fully understand what to do though quidco to get the money from them. I dont get how they know I have clicked and completed my swap of utilities

You need to start the switching process one month or so before you actually want the switch to take place. First search for the best tariff/ supplier, then clear your cookies or delete your details from the site, then login to Quidco, click on the new supplier or price comparison that you want the cashback from.

One more click on Quidco will take you to the site (it will look the same as normal), complete the full transaction as normal all in one go, then the new supplier or price comparison site sends a cookie to Quidco to register the transaction. It doesn't work if you don't clear your cookies immediately before, or if you start a transaction save it and then go back to finish it later. The transaction should show up on Quidco in a couple of days, but won't clear as cash in your pocket for a couple of months.
