I love the cactus pots! What's in there? And what sort of cactuses are they? I wanted to do chisel some holes in some bricks and fill them with cactuses as house plants....0

They're not cacti, they're err...thingummies...you know...wossnames.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

Well...thingummies...wotsernames...or whatever...
......errr...they dont look very edible to me they dont.....:D..and I'll have an experimental "chew" at most things to see if they are.....oooh....cacti...ouch Matron:D
Theres lots of things commonly thought of as purely decorative that you could also eat yer know......you could try planting a few nasturtiums...if its not too late....both the leaves and flowers are edible (often eaten here chez ceridwen and I'm still alive to tell the tale) and I gather the buds can be pickled like capers (not tried yet).0 -

Ahh...well...there are 3 categories of plant permitted in my garden:
1. Stuff I can eat.
2. Stuff that eats other stuff.
3. Stuff that is decorative, but extremely slow-growing and zero maintenance.
These thingies (I can't remember for the life of me what they're called) fit into category 3. They grow extremely slowly, so won't take over the place. They are maintenance free - I don't even have to water them. Very occasionally, a little weed will get a toehold between the rocky bits and I'll yank it out.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

They're succulents or house leeks but despite the name they aren't edible.mrbadexample wrote: »Mmmm....capers.
 Can I grow them? What are they anyway?
THESE are capers. I use them in salads which you don't eator in fish pie. They're an aquired taste.
I tried pickling nasturtium seeds a few years ago and they did taste vaguely like capers but I prefer to use them to grow more nasturtiums these days.
