Hi, I have got a Mondeo 2.2 TDCi, engine is brill, fast & reliable (no cambelt to worry about for one thing) I've had it 3 years and (touch wood!) had no problems so far. It's the same engine as they use in Ford Transits so judge for yourself about reliability. As for the rest of the car, its fine- a bit heavy on tyre wear but I have got 18" alloys with low profile tyres which are a bit pricey, so look out for that if you get an X Type, otherwise its basically a tarted up Mondeo!
I must, I must, get my post average up to 1 a day!! :D

Just done 1200 miles in a week in a 2.2 diesel auto estate SE spec - excellent car. Quiet, refined, very comfortable, all the toys and 43 mpg.

Well after a couple of months flip-flopping on a number of cars I've just bought my wife an X-type 2.2D Sport Premium estate and she's happy, despite having rejected the X-type originally. What an unbelievable piece of kit! So much equipment (so many things to go wrong in the future! :D) The icing on the cake is I got a single owner car with full Jaguar service history at trade price.
