There is a knack to getting them to germinate. Also the tree will get to 15 feet tall and take 10 years to produce it's first small harvest.0 -
I saw these in the Feb mag that they send out. Nuts from africa which produce lather £7.99 and last 50 washes. Just because they produce lather does it mean they clean? Anyone got them - reviews or more info please. Thanks0

I will be interested to read the comments. I have heard these soap nuts being discussed, but to me they sound a bit expensive??? I am a home made gloop or powder person so am a bit stingy on the washing front. All I remember is someone saying your whites go dingy after a while.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01

I think there have been threads on them but not sure if it was here or in Green & Ethical. My friend has some and has a baby in washable nappies and a primary school aged boy and she's very pleased with them. I just haven't got round to getting any yet to try but I will.

Thank you - I have sent off for some.0 -
I have used them and wasn't altogether impressed. I've gone back to using powder, even though I still have some left.0

I did two white washes with them last week and don't know what to make of them to be honest. I threw a tea towel in that had ribena stains, it did get them out, but the tea towel didn't look clean. It says you can get 4 washes out of 6-8 half nuts, but just looked and I can't see me getting another load out of the ones I used. I have a few more samples so will put another white load in now and post tonight.0

I use them and am pleased. You do have to do some stain removal first, but otherwise things are clean. I sometimes use a bit of bicarb in the coloureds wash, just to "brighten" up a bit and sometimes use Ecover laundry bleach (percarbonate of soda) for whites. Even my washable san towels come out clean!0

I understand Napisan is sodium perborate, wondering if that is the same as the Ecover bleach and how they compare cost wise. I think Napisan is about £2.20?
I have no idea how much Ecover is.Grocery Challenge £139/240 until 31/01
