More compulsory free postage

Ebay are introducing more categories where you have to give free postage! They think it will attract more buyers! Maybe it will but if theyre driving sellers away there wont be anything to buy!

The categories we've selected are extremely competitive in the UK with online retailers increasingly offering free delivery. We believe this is the market price for P&P for those categories in the UK.
In which categories do I have to offer free P&P?

we just have to incorporate the postage price into the original start price then.although ebay benefit from higher fvf's.

I am more inclined to believe that this is actually driven by customers/buyers - just look at the number of threads we see on here and the eBay boards were people are complaining about excessive P&P.

"Free"/inclusive P&P is the simple answer to resolve the issue that also provides ebay with mroe revenue in the process.

As a seller I've been offering free/inclusive P&P for a couple of years on a number of lines, and it has worked out beneficial for me. I do not have to offer as many combined postage discounts (how do you discount free?!) and it also gives me much better visibility in the categories I list in - eBay move it up the search results as they make more money from me, but as I have better exposure, I make more sale/more money.

If you can't beat them, join them.

For now at least - but I think they will also move to inclusive or 'Free' postage eventually
Playtrade sellers have to comply with free delivery.

    just my feeling .....

As a book seller on Amazon I am not allowed to charge more postage than the £2.44 allowed to me after fees from Amazon.

im fuming...in the first instance i sold a set of books the postage was 6.85. royal mail lost them the seller bought elsewhere, and then 2 weeks ago the books were returned. was in the waiting for comp time, so i lost a £25 sale, now the books are going back on. upon listing i get this error message
Shipping service cost exceeds £2.75 maximum allowed for selected category.
can someone explain to ebay they are books and are quite heavy. they are IDIOTS.
another thing you have to accept paypal...it sucks...fees involved and when you make a claim you might win but if the other party has had the money youre up *hit creek im about ready to pack it all in.
