  • Only started on Amazon a couple of weeks ago but these have been my best sellers so far (all old Uni textbooks so no outgoings for them)

Genetics: A Molecular Approach [Paperback] by Brown, T.A. £17.00
Pathology: Illustrated Review in Colour [Paperback] by Stevens, Alan; Lowe... £31.00
Essential Reproduction (Essentials S.) [Paperback] by Johnson, Martin H.. £17.00

I have to say though that the fees Amazon charge are extortionate! I've sold £93 stuff but paid £23 in fees! I know its a balance between getting higher sale prices on amazon but cheaper fees & more postage allowance on Ebay. Ah well i cant complain really - its better than them sat on my shelf gathering dust!!

Sold this book yesterday, within an hour of listing: "Overcoming Social Anxiety and Shyness: A Self-Help Guide Using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques - Gillian Butler" for £10. There is one listed on Amazon for £114, but a search on abe books listed several around the £10 mark, so you could try for more, but as it was passed on to me I'm happy with my sale.

    Regards

Most recent good sale was Hollywood Portraits by Roger Hicks, Christopher Nisperos for £13.99, (this is a photography manual not a coffe table book).

A while ago I sold a book for around £40 called Yakuza Diary: Doing Time in the Japanese Underworld, a quick look on amazon now shows 8 for sale, cheapest from America around £25, cheapest shipped from the UK £48.25, most of the sellers have rubbish feedback, defo one to look out for.

  • This is quite a useful thread! I haven't sold on Amazon before, but plan to start soon.
Could those of you who have bought and sold specialist textbooks tell me whether they have to be very recent to have a good chance?

    Hi CMP,

I haven't sold specialist text books myself but have read other's advice on a different Amazon thread [Selling your stuff on Amazon Part 4] which has lots of useful info at the beginning and people ask questions as it goes through the thread. I think the general advice is that its wise to check if there is a more recent edition of the book you are hoping to sell by doing a search on Amazon first. If its not the latest edition then its not likely to go.........

Hope that helps and good luck

ps if you need a quick response then the other thread I mentioned is read/used more often so that's a better place to post questions - this one goes very quiet sometimes
