Just wondering if there is anything that tells you the distance run/walk. I looked on google maps but it doesnt show the cycle track that I would be using.

What about a pedometer or are they not acurate when you run/jog?

obviously dont want to spend much as I have only just started but I just want a clue to actually how far I have gone

    Thanks Bekki

    Try mapmyrun.com :D

Look at the satelitte option if your track isnt shown on the standard map view :D

also when mapping road, its easier to tick the 'follow roads' box, then mark it out, then untick as you go x-country.

I wouldn't call myself speedy Simply . Good pace for two miles is one thing. A good pace of 6 or 13 is another :o

On which note I clocked up 5.75 miles today in 55:23 (9:37/mile). The aim was a hard run which I managed. Steady first mile and all other splits below 10min/mile pace, with the last .75 run at 8:25min/mile pace. But I could not have managed that for much longer (possibly not even the mile), and certainly not two. Nice blustery wind today to do cooling without hindering the run.

Total for the week = 11.75 miles

bj-sailway - 3.6 miles is good. I couldn't do 3 in February. Resistance work for core stability will help with the running too.

Welcome bekkki1 - if you don't get on with mapmyrun, http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ is an alternative that is a bit simpler and I often use to get an idea of a route.

    Liking the race piccies peeps.

Great write up KM - cats love doing the loony thing. Especially if it involves food at the end of it ;) Wouldn't fancy that distance at all tho'!

Thats unfair, im on nights so ill be basically awaking from my sleep then getting in the car, travelling to lincoln for some new trainers, then heading off to the race.

From there, into work for a 10hr shift probably, to get to bed about 3am again, to be awoke by a 19month old who loves to climb on daddy.

To do it all again thursday.
  • I know that feeling alias, but im at the hospital wednesday afternoon, trust me id rather be out running at digby than having the operation. I have a 3 year old boy and a 9 month old girl, so plenty of early starts.

Thanks Krider, I don't run the whole 3.6miles yet! but I can out walk most people for speed.

Did bodypump this morning, I cycle there and back, about 3 miles each way, and whilst I thought the running was a doddle, I really could feel my legs this morning doing squats - ouch! So it's obviously working some muscles I didn't realise! Was going to go out again this evening, but maybe I shouldn't? I'm not going very fast though, so can't be that detrimental to go out everyday for such a short distance? What do you guys think? I just have the bug now!

Ooo I like this line :D:D

Do what you feel - its really important to listen to your body - if you feel tired then dont go but if you feel rarring to go then try it out - it may be harder work than yesterday but as long as you remember why then that'll be fine :D

Running does work the muscles on the top of the thigh because you are lifting your legs something like 1,000 times a mile :eek:, got to be good for you eh! :p
