Yes their yoghurts are really good:)

I did buy a range of their 49p fruit last week and I was a bit disappointed:o. Some of the plums had gone mouldy and the melon had a strange chemical taste to it :(

But still, for 49p I am not complaining I think on the whole they offer very good value for money :)

Melons will get better this week coming as the area has changed from Almeria ( where they are grown in plastic greenhouses) to Murcia where they are grown in the good old outdoors. Unlikely any chemicals on the product as they are far too expensive to buy now days !:D

Plum varieties will also change next week as the early ones finish and the main crop starts and the fruit will be stronger and sweeter same with Peaches and the cherries. Pineapples may look green but they are super sweet varieties and the green does not affect the internal flesh quality.

I love Aldi, I don't go in much but when I do it feels so heavenly! I love the European-ness of it all. I got all my Eurovision party food from there and saved a fortune (plus it was far more authentic than what we would have got in the supermarkets)!

I think it was 2007 when the whole Bernard Mathews bird flu scare happened. That Christmas Aldi was packed to the rafters with BM frozen turkeys, presumably because the company was having difficulty selling them elsewhere because of the bad press. We got a MASSIVE one for just £9 and we were eating it for days after Christmas (we like cold turkey thank god!). They only had own-brand fresh turkey crowns in stock last year though we went for that and it was just as lovely.

They do some absolutely divine own-brand ice creams there as well, they had a gorgeous Greek yoghurt and honey one last year, much nicer than the Walls one!

One thing that does annoy me about Aldi, though I don't know if this is nationwide, is that you have to be over 21 to buy alcohol. My 19 y/o friend went in and got IDed, she thought it was just the whole Think 21 campaign but no, she was refused service and was told she had to be over 21. Maybe it was just a confused employee! Shame, as they've got some really cheap booze, and I'm off to uni in September! :D

EDIT: Ooooh, another one I've just thought of was these crisps I had at a friend's party the other night called "Roc (sic) & Roll's (sic)" (:D). They were like Doritos but they were all curled up into thin rolls. They tasted so much nicer than Doritos, the flavour was more intense. She got all her crispy things from Aldi, don't know the prices though.
  • i try to do my shopping from aldi and farmfoods, aldi fruit and veg are great although i was disappointed last week with their cherries and peaches..they went off very quickly.

that aside, aldi is still excellent value. very moneysaving.

  • I love Aldi too. My shopping trip involves going to Aldi and Cool Trader (frozen food shop) and then Tesco for the bits I couldnt get. Aldi have really good offers.

Funnily enough, just had some of the harissa topped houmous on toast for supper, and thought it was absolutely delicious!!!
    .

yeah - we often buy this and its always been really nice!

I like both Aldi and Lidl - tend to use Lidl more often, but pop into Aldi every few weeks for a few nice bts and bobs - theur cherries were delicious last week, and my dog loves their 'fresh breath' dog biscuits!! They also do banham free range organic chickens which are lovely!

Just started using the lidl clothes washing liquid detergent and it is lovely - really nice fresh smell too! (I buy the non bio version)Its only £1.41 at the moment too (instead of £1.61 I think)

It is one of my greatest joys in life - to visit Aldi and Lidl.:o

I personally hit the middle aisles with all the stuff you never knew you needed before I do the food shopping. My last visit I got a pedestal fan (great timing) for £7.99 reduced from £12.99. Funny it was reduced as it was a blisteringly hot day, but I am not complaining.

I stock up on toothpaste, mouthwash, bin bags, dw tablets Lidl W5 came out nearly tops in Which magazine), washing powder, shampoo etc. It is fabulously priced and equal to more expensive brands.

I allow £100 per month for my Aldi/Lidl shop and find I can stock up for the month ahead on many items. My nearest stores are about 10 miles away but they are side by side. How cool is that?

im surprised they both still do good enough trade with being side by side
