I didn't realise you'd posted again I really don't know why but I assumed you'd be at work all day.:o
Yes I've heard some of the camp sites are pretty fussy these days I know some people who had to take their caravan off a site because they said it was too old even though it was in good working order.
We are hoping to be able to try it out this weekend :j but I told my daughter she could choose a day and I would baby sit so we'll have to wait and see.
a coach, now that's a biggie:D and a double decker wow!!Women and cats will do as they please and men and dogs should get used to it.;)

Don't worry if you're referring to me? I don't work at the moment as i've got a 9 month old little lady. Her first jaunt in NUG was when she was 4 weeks old and we went to south Wales for a few days.
Yippeee we're finally off in our wagon this weekend, hopefully. We're going to camp in the middle of some woods that our friend with the converted ambulance owns. Fingers x that the weather holds up for all of us eh.

I hope that you both have nice weather at the weekend and manage to get away!
Hopefully we will manage one or two nights away next week at a campsite nearby, which will be our first time camping this year...depending on the weather...0 -

Came across this thread when looking for info about renewing our campervan insurance. We bought a 1985 VW Transporter (i.e. a T25) off Ebay last Sept, having been tent campers for years. No regrets, its been fantastic and we've had some great trips. He was called Rupert according to the bloke we bought it off so the name stayed!
As far as money saving and vans like these are concerned, here are two useful websites that we use:
http://www.wildcamping.co.uk/forums/
http://www.club80-90.co.uk/
We've recently spent 2 weeks touring round Orkney and estimate that we would have spent four times as much if we'd gone on a 2 week package holiday abroad. This week the van is being converted to run on LPG as well as petrol, so that should save us quite a bit on fuel costs (as well as being better for the environment) because LPG is less than half the price of unleaded!

Wish I'd seen this thread when it was live last year! I've just bought a campervan and am so excited about taking him on his inaugural trip. If anyone has any advice as to a gentle and friendly place to start my camping career, or is doing a MSE camping event, please let me know!

If you are used to camping and there are only two of you think about getting a Toyota Previa or similar, take out the back seats, put a piece of wood on the floor with a foam matress. there is plenty of room for all the other cooking/washing stuff as well. These are much cheaper and more reliable than most campers.
Also have you thought about a folding camper? This is a better version of a trailer tent. Very quick to put up overnight, no pegging unless you put the awning up and the bed is up off the floor.0 -
I'm wondering if a lovely old VW would be allowed in London now. We have a new Low Emission Zone that seems to be just about everywhere and it costs £200 a day to drive old vans now.
Does anyone know if camper vans are allowed still?:smileyhea "here, hare, here" :smileyhea0 -
Does anyone have a campervan that they'd like to hire out for 5 nights at the end of june to a couple of well mannered gentlemen? we are facing the prospect of having to kip in a tent for almost a week which we are not realy looking forward to!
We are looking to pay up to £350 for the right vehicle but all hire companies are fully booked or only hire for full weeks which we cant afford!
Any idea, suggestions or help would be greatly welcome!
