I must admit we've never stayed at a campsite and we've only ever been moved on once in Wales, although i'm not too sure if this is legal or not? We're not too noisey, we clean up all of our mess when we leave and we don't damage the environment so generally theres no problem.

Last year we had a near miss though, we found a beautiful hill to park up on when it was dark. So we parked, had our bbq then went to bed. When we woke up in the morning, we got out to have a proper look at where we'd stayed and it turned out we'd parked up on a firing range for tanks

If you do get a wagon, pm me and i can give you a great list of layby's, cliffs etc that we stay on.

    Hey Alanalea
I would love to see that list. In Australia there are a few great published guides to 'free' campsites for camper vans. They give directions, how long you can stay for without upsetting people etc. It would be great to compile a list... or is there a website for this already? I would be happy to compile it if people post/email good spots. what do you all think?

A very old Bedford CF280, the chap said it's a cllectors item for insurance purposes.

It's 1975, but very nice inside, hasn't been knocked about or anything and it was cheap £1,000!, taxed till end of April and MOT till August.

Cool! Just did a search on google to see a pic and found this www.bedford-cf.co.uk and thought it might be useful!

I love old campers soooo much - whenever we turn up at a campsite we start looking for the oldest/wierdest camper that is there.

You should think about going to vanfest (it is a VW thing) but there are loads of other campers there - it is great fun - I've been for the last two, not sure exact dates this year but it is usually something like 2nd weekend in September.

    Happy Camping!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I can recommend Adrian Flux and Sureterm Direct for classic car insurance. Play them off against each other to get the cost down a bit. Shouldn't cost much at all. Also consider agreed value - it doesn't usually cost anything more and you just have to send in photos taken from certain angles. Also if you are just not using it for daily driving go for a low abual mileage to get the cost lower too.

Thanks Bunglegirl, we found that site too and the van is insured with that company but you've given us some useful information, thanks.

We'll be picking it up sometime this week and can't wait to use it. Vanfest sounds good, we're just hoping the bottom doesn't fall out on the first trip or something worse :D .

Will try and post photo later.
