Cleaning Glass Door of Oven - Whats best?

Hi, if it's a door that 'pulls down' rather that opens out, you pull the door down and put soapy water on it, and leave it to soak for a bit. Then you can scrub that off-should get the 'newer' geasy marks off!! then you can get to work on the tougher marks! I know how you feel-my oven is just the same, but it's the job i hate doing most!!0

Will do this in my new house :rotfl: :rotfl:

Meet a fellow sufferer. MY OH likes to do the cooking and I find that uncovered fatty roast potatoes and similar things are the main culprit. While the oven is still warm and door is open I spray with diluted Liquid Flash and leave a while. (Cover floor with newspaper otherwise drippings could stain the floor). Then get a very thin bladed knife and scrape the more stubborn burnt bits off, keeping the blade as levelly parallel with the glass as possible to avoid scratching. You may have to repeat. Once it's clean it's always best to wipe the oven door down with a soapy cloth after cooking greasy stuff before it has a chance to get burnt on. Now I know why some women always buy ready prepared food. This is one chore they don't have to deal with. :rotfl:0

I read through the replies, and I don't think anyone's recommended a metal scouring pad (round or doughnut shaped ones - not brillo pads), it takes a wee bit of scrubbing, but they've cleaned every manky bit of glass I've ever come across - I use them on oven shelves, pyrex stuff and barbecues too.
Hope this helps...0 -
well the deed is done :T:T:T
Have spent most of the day off and on doing it!
Threw the racks into the bag with oven pride and left outside for about 8 hours, still a few wee marks but nothing a quick rub with one of those scouring ball things - you know the sort of curly ones that unravel after a wee bit, couldn't remove.
Soaked the glass bits of the doors in the bath with biological soap powder for hours
and then a good old bit of elbow grease with the scouring thing and it is sparkling.
Gave the inside of the oven a good going over with neat stardrops and the blade thing for cleaning the ceramic hob.
Bunged all the shelves and door bit into the shower for a quick rinse - and reassembled.
Looks fantastic even if I do say so myself - infact my VERY house proud friend came round to look at it and was amazed - she told me it was cleaner than hers!! :rotfl::rotfl:
So chuffed - no food can now be cooked in my house until we move unless it can go on the George or the microwave! still got 5 weeks to go :rotfl:DD1 - May 02 8lbs 6oz

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:ha ha nice try! sorry but NO WAY!
It didn't feel to much of a penance, but that is only because I was in the right frame of mind to do it, DD2 was at nursery so had 'space' - unfortunately now the rest of the house is in absolute turmoil - :rotfl:DD1 - May 02 8lbs 6oz

I've bought the oven cleaner for my grills but the problem i have is the oven door. I can remove the glass from them but no amount of scrubbing and elbow grease will remove the grease from the oven door and it looks terrible when u look at my cooker?
Has anyone any suggestions on how to clean this?
Thanks in advance

I use the glass hob scraper on mine - its like a razor blade/paint scraper thing and it works well. I usually use it with some cream cleaner of sorts at the same time!Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0
