Definately use a glass scraper and then I just rub with an old microfibre cloth that I keep for just this purpose, I dampen it and use just a drop of stardrops , polish up with a clean dry cloth and it will just sparkle...#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

Recently I tried using Hob-brite for this (its intended for ceramic hobs so I thought it should be okay on glass.) and it worked very well, also used a scourer for non-stick pans. As when cleaning the hob, I found that leaving it for a couple of minutes before rubbing off works better. It costs about £1.49 or 1.69. Maybe not cost effective though if you don't have a ceramic hob to use it up on.0

I did mine with a non stick type scourer, a bowl of Very hot water & neat stardrops! There is a thread that might help

How about soaking over night in the bath with some biological washing powder?? That makes really baked on black stuuf soft so that it will wash off easily the next day...
I suppose this will only work if you can detach it from the cooker.

I've been out and bought some stardrops today after I read through the mammoth "stardrops appreciation" thread. My first trial with it was on the glass of my oven door.......but sadly it didn't even make a bit of difference. Admittedly the glass is very manky and long overdue a clean. I left it on for about 15 minutes, then used a plastic pan scourer - should I have left it on for longer?
Afterwards I then tried some bicarb & vinegar but that didn't work either. I really don't want to have to use a chemically oven cleaner...but thinking I might have to.
I can't undo the bolts on the glass either. They just won't turn at all.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0 -
I desperately want to clean my oven so have bought some stardrops but not sure how to use it
I have some Cif oven cleaner that I bought before the stardrops but only want to use that if the stardrops doesn't work.
Couple of questions for you....
Psykicpup. Do I just use the SD neat? Can I smear it over the offending mess? I say mess, its not that bad really because at worst the oven is only 3 yrs old but it came with the house and I've put off cleaning it so far. Also same for the glass door. Just smear it on neat?
otterspasm. If the SD doesn't work do you think if I make up a paste of washing powder and smear that over the bottom of the oven it will be ok?
Should I heat the oven slightly first before doing either of these 2 ideas or cold only?
Thanks everyone.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I use a steam cleaner on my oven door. I just blast boiling steam directly at the grease and then rub it with a sponge scourer. Comes up beautifully.0

I use stardrops and buff it up. If I do it reasonably often it only takes a minute or so...otherwise any normal glass cleaner seems to work either.
Just have to get around to doing the inside now0 -
I bought myself a glass scraper and my oven door is now sparkling. Geee after 30 odd years of scrubbing!!
I am half way through doing my oven today and I am using oven pride. My shelves and big tray came out clean but with a few brown blobs that the scraper removed. They are all gleaming now. I am going to give my oven another half hour and it is fingers crossed that I get a good result
I HATE cleaning the pesky oven0
