I desperately want to clean my oven so have bought some stardrops but not sure how to use it
I have some Cif oven cleaner that I bought before the stardrops but only want to use that if the stardrops doesn't work.
Couple of questions for you....
Psykicpup. Do I just use the SD neat? Can I smear it over the offending mess? I say mess, its not that bad really because at worst the oven is only 3 yrs old but it came with the house and I've put off cleaning it so far. Also same for the glass door. Just smear it on neat?
otterspasm. If the SD doesn't work do you think if I make up a paste of washing powder and smear that over the bottom of the oven it will be ok?
Should I heat the oven slightly first before doing either of these 2 ideas or cold only?
Thanks everyone.
When I did mine I had the oven just slightly warm as I had used it earlier - I used the stardrops just like any other cleaner - I dipped the scourer in very warm water, squezzed it out then added a few drops of the neat stardrops & gave it a scrub (do use gloves - I forgot & had really dry hands for a few days ) Its just a normal scourer -white one side (soft) & the green scratchy stuff the other - I had tried before with stardrops on a cold oven but it didnt work as well - it worked but didnt get all those stubborn spots, so would definately go with a warm oven!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0 -
use a fine wet and dry sandpaper.Make sure it is wet when being used.Buff with some t-cut car polish for the extra shine.0

Wood ash + water on scrunched up newspaper.
I'll assume that bicarb does a similar job.0 -
Help - we are moving house in a few weeks and I am trying to clean the inside of my oven door, any suggestions??
It is quite brown (not too sure when it was really cleaned last) have tried hobrite, but that was useless, Astonish paste did a bit of a job but not the really bad bits :eek:
have got bicarb and vinegar, could I make a paste with that? also got some borax
All suggestions greatfully recieved..

To get the brown off, (which is welded on, if its like my oven) then you'll need to use something like Mr Muscle oven cleaner. You'll need something which you leave on for a while and then using oven gloves clean off. Its very effective, but it relies on those heavy duty chemicals which aren't really old style.0

Try this older thread - cleaning inside glass oven door (I'll merge this thread later).
I use Mr Muscle, whcih contains caustic soda, but do take care, as it can cause severe burns and blindness (I was a research chemist in a previous life).

I use the Ceramic Hob Cleaning kit from Lakeland to clean the glass oven door. It comes with a scraper to scrape burnt off food deposits . Its really does a good job.0

I use scrunched up newspaper smeared with ash and vinegar to clean the glass door of my woodburning stove. I imagine it wouldn't be too different.0
