Working on the basis that there are no stupid questions: Can someone please explain to me what the "RO" in "Argos RO list" stands for?

Secondly, 'though this might be self-explanatory once I learn what RO means, how do I obtain items on this list and will items vary from branch to branch?

Thirdly, people refer to approaching their local Argos branch and asking for a print-out of an RO list: Why?

I find that Argos is - generally - 10 per cent more expensive than other high street retailers for most items. However, my local Argos is only 15 yards from my house so it sometimes makes it a worthwhile shopping trip. (They are litter louts and make lousy neighbours though!)

You'll find the answer to a lot of your questions on my website - link in my signature line.

If you can, the best way to find out what is on the RO list in a particular store is to sweet talk a member of staff into letting you have, or look at, their own print out - otherwise all you can do is try the items off the lists shown here and on the websites and see if you get lucky. ;)

And you're right - I find Argos often to be quite expensive - but if you can track down items at 75% off, its gotta be a bargain!! :D

Is it not more likely to be the bushcutter one one this page?

    http://www.tesco.com/electrical/browse.aspx?N=4294967173

it's £179.99 which ties in with the original Argos price
All these links are to the same cutter Cabrio 261
3.995kWP SSW facing. Commissioned 7 July 2011. 24 degree pitch + Solar Immersion installed May 2013, after two Solar Immersion lasting just over the guarantee period replaced with Solic 200... no problems since

I thought it was going to be the McCulloch Cabrio 249 Bushcutter - (Yellow) from that page, but I have just picked mine up and it is the 261

It is a monster - I had to unbox it to get it in my car (Vauxhall Omega) - even unboxed it is big. It even comes with a fixed metal blade like having a mower combined with a strimmer.

It is well overpriced on Tesco, about £199.99 elsewhere

Many thanks, Stumpy. Sadly for those of us who are visually impaired, your website design (in particular, the speckled background, which eliminates contrast) makes it one of the most illegible sites I've ever encountered. A friend read it though, compliments you on the excellent content (NOT the design!) but said there was no definition of the term "RO List" or explanation for the initials "RO". Maybe there isn't one.

It depends if you need a high power strimmer or not. I haven't used it yet, but having seen petrol strimmers in action before they really make a lot of the wired ones look like toys
  • I am having problems accessing the https://www.argos.co.uk site and various others such as John Lewis.
Each time I try and access certain sites I get the MSN search site coming up
    http://sea.search.msn.co.uk/dnserror.aspx?FORM=DNSAS&q=www.argos.co.uk

Is anybody else experiencing similar problems or have I picked up some virus?

    Any help would be appreciated
