Hi I tried all the numbers on the ro website but all of the numbers are coming up invalid
Can they not be accessed yes because i am really interested in the digital camera on it

If you are inputting numbers into the argos website from the RO Lists on the Lowesfamily website then, other than those items that they have in their clearance section (106 items at last check), you will not find them online. The only stuff that Argos has on its website is current catalogue stock, plus a few items that were in the last catalogue and will not be in the new one.

The only way to get those older RO items is to go instore and use their blue stock checkers or the upright pay touch-screens, or use the ring and reserve telephone line. Many of those items now will be out of stock, especially the more desirable items such as the electrical/mobile phone/camera types.

You may also find that some items will keep popping up in different parts of the country, because they seem to move around a bit of they're not selling in one particular store. Also, your best bet is to try the "Extra" stores, as they have more space to store older stock.

Do you know what happens to the stock that is still left over in stores from the old catalogue that is no longer in the new one?

What seemed to happen last time was that, initially, the individual stores just kept what stock they had in store, depending on size and space available to store old stock. After some time, this old stock was sent back to various central warehouses (not a single warehouse, but warehouses that had a designated region to cover). When that happened, it showed up as not available on the ring and reserve, but when you went in store to check, you could order for it to be delivered to the store within a few days from the warehouse. Then, I'm guessing a bit, but I think they redistributed, as we had several people finding stock in stores where there hadn't been any before.

There was also the feeling that, with items that they had quite a lot of, and weren't selling, they could often either send them back to the manufacturer (sale or return?!) or bulk sell to commercial traders.

As far as I recall, when the item is not in stock at that store, and is not available to be ordered, that's the message that comes up - either try the ring and reserve for other local stores or wait for a while and try again. The RO lists seem to be National, just that they won't have that much of any of the stock left, so its pot luck if you find any. It's also worth trying the bigger "Extra" stores, as they often have more space to store old stock.

Has anyone working for argos managed to get their hands on an official RO list yet for their specific store or is it just the national RO sale via the website that is running at the moment?

    Thanks for the note, Stumpy.

But I thought there would be loads more products on offer from an RO list perspective, than those that are currently in the clearance section of the Argos website, surely that's not all the discounts there is going be, is it?

I thought last time there were lots more products on special.

The items on special on the argos website will be from the last catalogue only. Some of the things on the last RO lists were from many catalogues ago, so I'm assuming the number of RO items had accumulated over the seasons. I'm not discounting there being more later though - I would imagine they'll try to make as much profit as they can off the old stock by selling this way first, then, if it doesn't sell, reduce by the more familiar discounts and place on the RO lists which, up until the last lot, seem only to have been used by staff. If that makes sense. wink.gif

Do you have thoughts on when there will be more reductions? based on the time it happened six months ago when the last catalogue came out.
  • Ive seen the new ro list, its about 50 pages long! Around 80% of whats on it is still listed at the same price? the other 20% is around 50% off and there are only about 5 items from the whole list that are 75% off and they are absolute crap! Very disappointing.
What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots
