The Maya Gold (orange one) definitely is fairtrade - I think it was the first fair trade choccy ever actually. But Green & Blacks are good ethically/organically so you can't go far wrong with whatever you buy from them (as I understand it). But if you have never had the Maya Gold...mmmmm, you gotta get some Moozie it's SCRUM!Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010

If I didnt care so much, Id be a better MSEer, but I think the extra £4 a month or so, is well spent!

Miffi - You may be low in magnesium and therefore experiencing cravings;
Magnesium is found in wholegrain cereals, wheatgerm, nuts and seeds, shrimps, winkles, okra, chard, soya beans, tofu and dried apricots.
The adsorption of magnesium is reduced when large amounts of calcium, protein or phosphate are eaten at the same time.
Defficiency is shown by muscle weakness, poor nerve-muscle interaction, lethargy, depression, irritability...................which is probably when most people reach for the chocolate!!!!;) (taken from a book called Healing Foods)
On the positive side, as part of a balanced diet, 100g of DARK, EXPENSIVE chocolate per day, can be beneficial due to the micronutrients: 33mg - calcium, 89mg - magnesium, 2.3mg - iron, 0.7mg - copper, 4mcg - selenium and 1.4mg - Vit E.
In addition, it has been found that 40g of chocolate contains more than 300mg of polyphenols, the antioxidants that are also found in red wine. Dark chocolate provides twice as much of this as a cup of green tea.
Apparently recent research in the BMJ, has suggested that a daily meal intake of fish/fruit/vegetables/almonds/garlic/150ml red wine/100g DARK chocolate, could cut the risk of coronary heart disease by 76%, and that the 100g dark chocolate per day could reduce blood pressure!
BUT bear in mind, per 100g there are;
529kcals in White Chocolate
520kcals in Milk Chocolate
510kcals in Dark Chocolate

Have to agree Maya Gold is gorgeous, not too orangey and not as bitter as the plain chocolate.
....and I have to agree DO NOT try the G&B Butterscotch or you will not be able to get through a day without it. Undeniably the best chocolate I have ever tasted....and I am NOT a chocaholic, crisps is more my thing, but G&B Butterscotch is vital!0 -

I feed my book addiction at the library, but there doesn't seem to be a place where I can "check out" soda or chocolate! :rotfl:
Oooh! That reminds me, I need to go log on at the library and renew my books before I get fined!

Alicatt, are you getting much joy from green metropolis? I have listed stuff ( only last week though) and havent had a bite yet. Saying that, theres no fees, so its not costing me like ebay does.:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
