I would be a better money saver if....

I wasn't so addicted to chocolate! Don't laugh it is true, I need my daily fix or else I get all fidgety. I don't think a day goes by without me having some. My fiance is starting to think Ive got a serious problem, honestly.
My 'addiction' means I find excuses to go to the shop more than I should, if I don't have any change I break into a note to buy some which leaves me with bits of change I'm likely to spend. And chocolate isn't cheap anymore...
Do you all think I'm loopy????

Nope! When I added up what I spent per year on chocolate, it came to a VERY embarrassing £500! :embarasse
Needless to say it was one spend that HAD to go. Now I keep a tub of sunflower seeds and raisins on my desk. Not the same at all but if I need something to nibble on [although nibble is not a word that could ever be applied to how I consumed chocolate] it does the job. And it's healthy... :rolleyes:If I don't respond to your posts, it's probably because you're on my 'Ignore' list.0 -
Hi Miffi
I think your loopy!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha just kidding, I imagine the choccy only really gives you a fix for about 5 mins and then the good feeling is over.
Try and eat more healhty snacks which release energy more slowly, so you do not need to get a quick fix.
Don't take any money out with you, the you won't spend it!!!
Or keep a seperate pot for choccy money and put so much away each month for choccy, make make you think about putting that money to something more worthwhile!!
Oh I want some choccy now that I have been talking about it!

I can thoroughly recommend getting Green & Blacks dark chocolate. It's so rich that you only need a few squares and then you don't want anymore....so you'll probably save money! Remember all the cheap stuff is rubbish for you...and actually I heard a radio report froma Dutch scientist who confirmed that 2 or 3 sqauares of cocoa rich choccy (minimum 56% cocoa solids) like Green & Blacks per day is GOOD FOR YOU cos of the anti oxidants. But if you go for more than 2/3 sqaures per day you'll undo any good work....!

Nope I dont think you re loopy at all.
I have the same problem - so I add a big bar of Tescos branded chocolate (not the value stuff) to my shopping list and then when I get the urge its there and I'm not spluring loads on going to the shop (and getting extras)
Only costs me about 60p per week now instead of per day.
Dont feel guilty - chocolate is a staple!!!0 -
As loopy as a bag of hedgehogs
You raise an interesting point, tho, Miffi... we've all made cut backs, gone without, and swapped for cheaper alternatives in our bid to be DFWs... but what's the one thing that each of us will just not compromise on?
For me... it's Heinz ketchup... not a huge expense... I always buy the big value bottles (still in bargain mode) ... and while i've tried others... nothing else seems to come close (thick, tomato flavoured vinegar springs to mind).
(p.s... in answer to your original question.... "I'd be a better money saver if..." I had more money to save...)

Id be a better MSEer if I wasnt ethical. I only buy recycled toilet paper, and faritrade tea, coffee & sugar. I buy organic veg where I can, but not always.
If I didnt care so much, Id be a better MSEer, but I think the extra £4 a month or so, is well spent! Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0
