I've already contacted that organisation but had no reply as yet. I've hinted to my disbelief to the organisers already and been "reassured".

I shall see what happens when they reveal the location tonight.

On a brighter note I won another competition about 10 minutes ago for tickets to a show in Birmingham. :T

SORRY I KNOW THIS IS ON THE WRONG THREAD BUT THE BRITISH GAS SCAMS AND LETTERS ONE IS LOCKED.

I've paid my gas to the council for more than ten years and I received this email yesterday, after getting in touch with the Council and British Gas this is definitely a scam:

We recently tried to collect payment for your British Gas from your account, however the transaction has been declined. In order to continue with your monthly subscription, we need you to update your payment details online within the next 3 days.

The IPM and ASA are investigating the competition that I won on the 7th of August with Miss Gym.

I have done my own investigating and am fuming! Here is the e-mail I sent to the IPM:

I have so far found some disturbing information.

Searching on google for Miriam Laing I have come across this:

I don't know what you will make of that information but I am very disheartened about working so hard to win only to have to find out these two people seem to be scammers. Do you think I will ever see my prize of an iPad 2?

EDIT: The ASA looked into it but all e-mails were being bounced back so I was told they couldn't do anything about it.

A few days later Miss Gym and her blog re-appeared and I received a message from Chris Laing saying he sold his company he was supposed to order the iPad through and he would order it through his new business.

I contacted the ASA again who said if the iPad doesn't arrive by noon on the 14th of November, they will again look into it.

I can't vouch for the legitimacy of the competitions in general, but I remember this one and I found the Kindle on the day the competition opened, Monday 10th (in fact I posted that I found it here).
