  • Sounds like it's all fixed up to me! I've been steering well clear of those comps.

Hmm, that's weird, as they've considered that cheating before. Someone on here e-mailed about 40 seconds after 8am and they were told they had cheated.

Someone on here cheated !

They might consider finding it before 8am as 'cheating'.

However, I found last week's (the iPad Mini) and it was extremely difficult to see, in fact there was barely a difference between the edited image and the original - I had to look at them both in Photoshop to be sure.
Which is why I was surprised that the 'winner' found it using their iPad. There is absolutely no way that someone could have seen that on an iPad screen (especially an iPad 1). I only just found it on a laptop screen and couldn't see it at all on my iPad 2.

There has always been a slight doubt in the back of my mind about these competitions, even though I have stuck up for them when I believed someone was wrong about them, but last week's 'winner' was really the final nail in the coffin.

EDIT// To prove my point, here's the image. The original is on the left and the edited (one with iPad Mini) is on the right. The iPad is in the teeth of the radish:

    And a zoomed in version:

Actually I found it on my iPad as well, I find it slightly easier to zoom in on an iPad.

How? Even zoomed in all the way you can't see an iPad, and the only difference between the two images is two pixels. Without comparing the images side by side on a PC, there's no way you could see the difference.
  • Just a note to say if you enter a comp through Optical Express who offer a win free Laser eye Surgery you will get a lot of sales calls.
I don't normally enter these but decided to do one just for fun..and lo and behold less than 5 minutes later a sales call from them.
I was testing it out to maybe list the comp, but it seems just like an excuse to get your number and then badger you..

and a super amount of spam , we, my friend and I made the mistake too of entering another competition that must have sold our details to optical express we have been spam emailed to with-in an inch of our life by this so called reputable company and had endless phonecalls which have been very upsetting for my friend as she is blind in one eye and no matter how many times she tells them laser eye surgery would be of no help to her they keep on phoneing her. Needless to say they don't listen to me when i tell them i have 20 /20 vision and don't need laser eye surgery either.

    Hi Ladychelington,

Thank you for sharing your feedback.

We like to call people soon after they have entered our competition or provided their details on a form because we know the treatment is something they are thinking about at the time and we believe it is of help to offer a free consultation at that point. The only way that we can ascertain whether someone is able to have laser eye surgery is for them to attend a FREE in-depth consultation with our specialist staff. Many competition entrants elect to proceed to a laser consultation in order to confirm whether they are eligible for surgery and to discuss any questions that they may have with our specialists, before having surgery.

If I can be of any further help, please do not hesitate to contact me at customerfeedback@opticalexpress.com

    Thanks,

How do you get Optical Express to stop calling you repeatedly? I've had a ridiculous amount of cold calls from them after they (presumably) bought my details and they will just not stop. I get email spam as well, it's disgusting.
