I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but wondered if anyone could give me some advice, I received an e-mail today to say that I had won in the Irish Lottery and I'm not sure if it's for real, their address shows on the website but it asks for personal details to claim the money; name, address, age, marital status, occuptation, telephone and a copy of my driving licence. What should I do, is this a scam?

    The Irish Lottery
    P O Box 1010
    11 G Lower Dorset Street,
    Dublin 1, Ireland

    The e-mail reads as this:

WE THE STAFF AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE IRISH LOTTERY `WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE YOU ONCE MORE FOR EMERGING A WINNER OF THE IRISH LOTTERY 2009 DRAWS. First, we would like to inform you that you emerged a winner via an internet random selection of email addresses. Your email address was selected randomly along three ( 3 ) other winners of the lottery promotion. For proper verification purpose and clearance purpose, you are required to fill and complete the form below.

Upon receipt of the duly requested data, I will send you the contact information of the payment office so you can proceed with effecting the release of your claim in anyway you deem fit.

    Warm Regards,
    Mr Adams (FIDUCIARY AGENT).

This scam has really annoyed me as http://www.competitionsdaily.co.uk/index.php that site run by a person who last week took tons and tons of comps of mse now has the nerve to ask people for payment for what they get for free from here.
So peeps take the time and effort to post comps here, and she posts them to her site and charges people.....................:mad::mad::mad:

edit: the testimonals can't be real either as this was only set up last week so how can peeps have won loads of her site?

  • I live in Milton Keynes and the "Universal Consulting Ltd t/a National Surveys" scam has now reached here. I came home tonight to find the envelope only addressed to Mr/Mrs with the green slip congratulating me on winning a "Free" gift donated by a local business. It gives a phone no. to call of 01908 980007, which is an MK STD code, but I've lived here for a while and there are no areas starting with a 9 so it just screamed DODGY at me. I checked on line and what a surprise - all sorts of various forums confirming this.

Therefore if you live in MK and get one of these - BIN IT!!!! - I have, it's gone in the recycling to hopefully come back as something a little less onerous.
