I just had the fantastic news that I won £250,000 in a comp I didn't enter...You have just won the sum of 250,000 pounds in the NOKIA/FIFA WORLD CUP 2010 promo.Unfortunately, (a) it was sent to two independent mail addresses I have, (b) the mail was sent from timvv@permonline.ru, and (c) why would a genuine mail be sent from a hokey live.com?

Wonder what happens when you call that number. Anyone tried it?0 -
I had a call this evening from www.make-overs.co.uk saying that I had won a make over and photoshoot for me and 3 friends - I could choose any date I wanted BUT I had to pay a £40 deposit which would be refunded on the day.
They said it was in association with Actimel. I vaguely remember doing a competition (maybe not on this site).
Looks dodgy to me - no photos included - you have to purchase them on the day!
What does anyone else think?

Yes, it's dodgy! They just rang me up as well (though I didn't answer as I didn't recognise the number), and a quick google search shows thay they've been reported as a scam. From what I can tell, your £40 'deposit' can only be used as a credit towards buying your photos, which are about £100 each. While you will indeed have a make over and a photo session, they then become very aggressive and try to pressure you into spending £1,000 for your set of photos. Run away!

not sure where this should be posted .So sorry if wrong section
 Won four tickets to Ripleys Believe it or not They came just in an envelope not sure where we won them from . They have no expiry date, no exclusion criteria just a disclaimer "the management refuse the right to entry" on the back.
Today we went 2 kids 2 adults, was questioned when we got them , stated 2 months ago and then was asked where we got them from " said a competition win" was asked which competition? The manageress said she would accept them with the envelope they came in or the letter or business card.
Had lots of tickets and Never had to take the envelope!! or letter unless it clearly stated . She would not budge she stated they were old tickets and "too many had been given out!!! Is this my problem? She said we should have rang to check, What would I have said "Do you accept complimentary tickets? No they do not have an expiry date on them!?"
Apparently new tickets have a number on them, ours did not. Beware if you have any free tickets for this place. Ended up at the Science museum0 -
that's really awful - they were so mean not to let you in. I would write and complain to the management, it's so not your fault and you had made the effort to get there.
Boo to Ripley's Believe it or Not0 -
I'm currently getting this number 01143072406 ringing me once and then stopping. It has been on going for 2 days now at around 5 to 10 times during that period. it really is becoming slightly annoying now.0

If you google this number you will see that you are not the only one fed up with them.
If they persist in calling you, you could try the 'Choose to refuse' service from BT. This lets you bar certain numbers and is free for the first month but you must remember to cancel before the end of this period otherwise they start to charge you.
We tried this service when we had a few numbers bothering us and they have stopped calling us even though we cancelled the service some weeks ago.0 -
I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but wondered if anyone could give me some advice, I received an e-mail today to say that I had won in the Irish Lottery and I'm not sure if it's for real, their address shows on the website but it asks for personal details to claim the money; name, address, age, marital status, occuptation, telephone and a copy of my driving licence. What should I do, is this a scam?
