  • @wrangleygames on twitter. Had a RETWEET & FOLLOW to win one of 33 Iphones which they couldn't sell because the 'seals were broken'. Lots of retweets, I tweeted them asking when this 'competition' was ending and the post was deleted from existence, obvious scam but a lot of people fell for it unfortunately.

Similar to this one from Brokley Central - 18 XBox Ones 'The consoles work fine we just can't sell them due to accidental scratches to the consoles'

Phone call from Saphire Magazine - Scam to get your direct debit details

Just had a phone call, Man says "is that Philip Collins"....I said yes. He says he is from Saphire Magazine.....he says I did a survey for them and he would like to offer me £20 fuel voucher and free copy of the magazine. I entered thousands of competitions in December, it was non stop. It is a scam, they want your direct debit details, bank card and want to empty your account.

There was a Twitter giveaway recently by a firm called SoGlobe for 2 Sony laptops, one of those "RT & Follow" things. On Friday they announced the two lucky winners. Very quickly there were a few posts pointing out that both winners lived in Wolverhampton where the company are based, and both had protected Twitter accounts, the point being that the people running the giveaway couldn't see the winners tweets unless they were mutually following. After that, things took a more sinister turn as people began to uncover evidence of wrong doing. One of the "winners" has been shown to be a director of the firm, and furthermore their previous giveaway in December of two TV's has been shown to be equally dodgy. One of the winners is the Social Media Manager for the firm and is the partner of the director who "won" one of the laptops. The other TV winner is also associated with this director. They have removed all negative comments from Facebook and blocked lots of people from Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

The company claim to specialize in social media so you'd think they were not stupid enough to try this on. Anyway, feel free to unfollow them on Twitter (@SoGlobe) or unlike them on Facebook.

Ha yes I'd entered this comp and was hoping to win of course and then saw all of the facebook and twitter comments and the link to the website showing that previous comps had been won by either staff or their friends and family. I quickly unfollowed.....
Won so far in 2017: ipad mini :j

Looks like an older scam is making a return visit.
    hadn't heard of this one.
Received an email yesterday saying that I had won a mini. Didn't reply. then today had another saying I had won £1000 of vouchers for Argos, Currys, Topshop & Boots!
Seemed too good to be true, so googled it and found your comments on here.
    Steering clear.
Thought we should resurrect this warning to all out there.
