Sorry to read that DD is ill - hope it doesn't linger too long for her (or for you, for that matter!).

She seems to be responding very well to the Tamiflu, the frightening thing is how quickly it came on.

  • aww hugs for you...and for DD...good that ds being responsible...if we could just get mr bob there you'd be sorted! Only thing I can suggest is that you let him have a lightbulb by paying nothing for him and he just take the consequences but understand that it would be more than difficult plus if youre financially linked would have an impact on you...well done on the cash/no credit! Have been doing the same and it doesent actually take that long to get used to does it!!

That's the reason I do all the finances for both of us, ISOM, because my OH and I are financially linked. We have always had joint accounts, and I would not want to be dragged down by his "inability" to do the money stuff.

Having said that, I think that if we had kept things separate, I would be even more stressed out by the (presumably) constant, or at least regular, "bail me out" requests he would be making.

Hi Bob, just having a catch up sorry to hear DD is ill - lots of get well soon vibes from over here!

OH is crap with money too - when we first started living together he would have money lying round the house but direct debits bouncing all over the place - he could earn it but not put it in the bank! Everything comes out of my account now - his is barely used now, much safer that way!

    Hope you are ok x x x

  • Many thanks everyone, DD2 is a bit better today, but i have started coughing..i can't afford time off so will dose myself up this weekend and pray it clears.

ISOM, i have done that with Mr.B, i tried to separate everything and made him responsible for his own payments as i was fed up of seeing money going down the drain and him using the cards when payments have been made...guess that's the reason he is now on a payment plan with them and still manages to overspend.
I have put the mortgage(temporarily) on interest only, which absolutely goes against the core but he had to make his wage/outgoings balance...and i was on less than him a few months ago and i am still paying more than my share and my own stuff as well as bailing him out this month. The good thing is that his credit sources are drying up and he is no longer able to use them. I have as you know cut up cards in the past and got rid of them, i just think he is self justifying his dependence on credit and his so called self/family image.

I know folk will think that a bit harsh when we are married, but there is a lot of history with this.I think some folk do find it genuinely hard to have a light bulb moment..in his case it is a dim flicker, which briefly struggles to the surface then gets buried under all the self justification.

I just feel a complete idiot at times as the more i go round in circles with him the harder i find it.:o If am honest with myself as well, i find it harder when something is wrong health wise with DD2..it just makes struggling against the tide that bit more daunting.

  • I did forget my other bit of news, which is that thanks to further cost cutting and monitoring of gas and electric, we are in credit again this year by £150. I was going to ask for this back, but feel it may be more prudent to keep it in the pot for winter fuel in case it is a bad one.
Last year i got two rebates and a reduction in payment(monthly DD) without asking for it. So i am hoping for a good balance over the winter and a further reduction. At moment we are on £64 for gas and electric a month, i would like to knock another £10 a month off that. Not bad eh?

Well that's logical - the more he keeps digging, the deeper the hole.

When he comes to the end - he will expect you to bail him out. Not only in giving money, but in writing letters etc.
