Can anyone give me a good reason why I should switch to Waitrose.

  • I buy general stuff in sainsburys but go to waitrose for more unusual items. Its a MUCH nicer shopping experience, staff are more helpful, no chavs (bonus). Food quality is much better. If you have problems with an item they refund the cost AND replace the item. Nicer variety of toiletries. Its just a more pleasant shopping experience. Bakery is divine, bigger selection of fruit & veg which actually taste of something. If I could afford it I would do all my shopping there.

I've never done online shopping for groceries because I'm fussy about my fresh produce and would like to pick the best looking items myself, thank you very much. Therefore I don't see the difference between shopping at Tesco or Waitrose online, Tesco will be cheaper. However, if you'd like to have a better "physical" shopping experience, then definitely go to Waitrose. It's a bit more upmarket and the people working there are of higher calibre than say Asda. We are very happy with Waitrose's quality of their products.

I have been using Waitrose online for over a year now. Shop every week and spending a lot less than going to Sainsbury or Asda. There is no impulse buying which saves money. If you are not too fussy an eater we find the best way to shop is to look at the special offers and just buy whichever meat / fish / cereals etc are on offer. We are a family of 4 and this week will have spent under £50 when the discounts come off. Delivery is now free for all slots and we often get vouchers for money off. We never spend more than £65 on our weekly shop now. The only extra spending is if we need a bread / milk top up during the week and sometimes we go to the local greengrocers for our veg - today we spent £5 there.

the thing with online supermarket comparisons is if you are doing a shop at tesco, with their offers, ocado will ALWAYS come out dearer because the offers are exclusive to tesco. however if you start with Ocado, using their offers, the price is very rarely as bad.

thats just me, but i do love Waitrose, the quality (amongst supermarkets anyway) cannot be beaten.

I luv waitrose food(via ocado for me as no stores nearby), i agree its more pricey but the quality is loads better.

The meat is all sourced from uk, and i personally think the meat is better quality and tastes better.

Actually i remember the 1st waitrose thing i ate was a sausage roll, and i was going to eat 2 for lunch. After eating 1 I was thinking i`m not gonna be able to eat 2 of these as they had so much meat inside and were much more filling than sausage rolls ive brought from tesco or sainsburys before.

Now obviously cost is a big thing especially in the recession im not sure id stock up on everything from ocado but meat and foodstuffs i think its worth it.

Also using the ocado website, when you put the offers in your basket you know they are in stock and you will get them, i have hardly ever had a substite. Ordering online you dont impulse buy things you hadnt planned on.

delivery is free if u spend £75+

    1 hour time slots

you frequently get emails offering £10 or 10% off your next delivery.

if you regulary just buy the basics, value or smart price ranges you will never get those prices

I do my shopping from ocado twice a month and from tesco or sainsburys the rest. I tend to buy more household stuff from tesco, and more food from ocado even if i freeze it..

Its definately worth a try i`d say though, i guess it wont be for everyone though.

I think that people have a misconception of Waitrose, one of the fact that its expensive and its for more upmarket people.
I think people should give it another chance tho, Waitrose now is nothing like the Waitrose of old. They are more competitive on price than they used to be but without compromising on their ethics.
I love Waitrose but then maybe i'm bias as i am a partner :)

I went there yesterday, (as i normally do) and i managed to get around £15 of fruit for around £5 - with multipul buy discounts comming off even though the discount meant that they were actually giving me money!!!! ie. - 2 x 35p mango's with a 98p saving! :) And all the fruit was still ripe, perfect and not manky looking!!!!

Also got a lovely offer on salmon 3 packs for £10 @ £4.50 each

Everybody at where i work thinks that Waitrose is expensive and posh, and that i am a fool for shopping there - but i would rather eat better quality food than the rubbish that some of their competitors offer us!

What is the difference please between Ocado and Waitrose?

I shop in Waitrose and think it is absolutely great - excellent quality, polite staff, etc.

I love Waitrose. They sell a larger range of niche products, for example chocolate from a single plantation, or rums from the whole caribbean, or meats from farmers that care.

Yes it's more expensive, but you get a better product and better service for your money :)
