Can anyone give me a good reason why I should switch to Waitrose.

If you want better quality meat, fish, fruit and veg AND lower prices then don't get them from Waitrose - try your local butcher, fishmonger, greengrocer and farmers market (or weekly veg box delivery scheme) if you have them.
If that's not feasible because they no longer exist or because of working hours then Waitrose are more 'ethical' than Tesco or Sainsburys, appear to treat their suppliers better, have friendlier more helpful staff and better quality produce.
If you mostly buy Tesco value or Siansburys basics, then no, Waitrose won't compete on price. However if you are flexible and take advantage of offers then you can do okay.
Waitrosedeliver also does free delivery on all orders and has vouchers for up to £35 off your first 3 shops (usually £5 off the first, £10 off the second and £15 off the third). If each shop is around the £50 minimum order amount then you save approx 10%, 20% and 30% off those orders and get free delivery."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

Well this isn't the case in my Sainsburys.
Some of the organic beef is Argentinian and the lamb is from New Zealand.
I think all of the supermarkets will have New Zealand lamb at certain times of year to ensure continuity of supply. (And because they think the demand for Hogget or mutton is not there or even if it was there is not enough UK supply at present). When a lamb is more than 12 months old before slaughter then it is technically no longer lamb but hogget - however it still tastes as good if not better, unless you like the flavourless 'spring lamb' you get at Easter which is from much younger animals.
Best time of year to buy British lamb (and beef) is late summer / early Autumn when they have been feeding on the summer grass for a few months."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

Waitrose = The fresh food last longer, the aisles are wider, no crowding of trolleys, the staff seem sincerely frindly and genuine, the offers are not just on junk food, no badly behaved children running wild with fishwife mothers screaming after them.
They let anyone into Waitrose...even me with my little one.
The meat is often near its sell by date....not the 'long' life meat you get in other stores and the discounting doesnt seem so good on almost out of date products.
The the staff are great, and if I could afford it, I would shop there all the time.Amazon Sellers Club Member Number 52

I'd rather have the screaming kids and fishwife mothers in mine, all we get is oldies on their last legs and stinking like they haven't bathed in years poking you up the arris with their walking sticks, rude old gits :rotfl:0 -
waitrose are very good at taking money off coupons, they aren't stingy, will take up to £10 worth. Their new essentials range really is good quality - i.e. choc chips for making cakes/cookies - excellent quality - far superior to the brand name ones I used to get - their tea bags etc., good quality. You get what you pay for and so I will go in there and pick and choose - get their bogof deals and their tickler chedder cheese on the deli on special is really yummy it's a silly price something like 78p per 100g - if you get something dodgy they will replace AND give money back. Finally, their veg def lasts longer and a lot of it is local.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

It sounds to me like your happy with tesco so I would stick with them.
I cant see how people say better qualiry food makes it stretch further as its still the same quantity so still produces the same amount of food, better quality isnt more filling just tastes nicerWins so far this year: Mum to be bath set, follow me Domino Dog, Vital baby feeding set, Spiderman goody bag, free pack of Kiplings cakes, £15 love to shop voucher, HTC Desire, Olive oil cooking spray, Original Source Strawberry Shower Gel, Garnier skin care hamper, Marc Jacobs fragrance.0 -
quality doesn't get quantity I know, but if you are buying fresh meat waitrose don't pump theirs with water like other supermarkets (or so they tell me at my branch when I asked them why theirs costs more) and the cut has less fat or gristle so there is no waste. The other supermarket joints of beef etc do seem to shrink al lot. Quality on fruit and veg is really important for me and I find tesco in particular has really short shelf life on veg but waitrose seems to have the longest . HOWEVER, I do wonder if irradiation isbeing used by some supermarkets to preserve their fruit and veg and as yet there is no law to say they must declare this as far as I know.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

Have you tried cheap frozen meat? Full of water, you defrost it and half of it disappears!0 -
yes, I agree ilnf, apart from the chicken or turkey joints that you roast in the tin foil trays - they seem to be excellent value and tesco always have them good price.Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale - Hans Christian Andersen2012 savings:remortgage £156.15pcm £5 pcm insurance reduced; 2012 Running totals: £10 goodwill requests/Grocery Coupons £12:T0

the main problem with the likes of m&s and waitrose is the higher cost. but its for the better quality.
on the plus side u end up spendin LESS on ur weekly/monthly shop as u spend more carefully! u end up not buyin loads (coz it was on offer) which u soon find out u used to waste anyway!!!!!!
buy quality and ur money goes further.
the cheaper the item the more u spend... its the same with primarni. u dont go in and just buy 1 top...0
