I was told by a midwife who called me last week to acknowledge my GP's referral letter said if I needed a scan for any reason I need to go to the docs to get them to fill a form which I then take to the hospital.
But doc wont see me to fill a form.. i dont know if i can talk to anyone else in the surgery. i.e secretary or practice manager to have one done for me?0 -
sorry i don't know what should happen in this situation, but if the pain is very bad then surely the GP should see you to rule out ectopic pregnancy (although it's probably not that, i don't want to worry you!). how long have you been in pain? i'll be 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow and i ring the midwives then, until then i don't suppose anyone acknowledges that i'm pregnant. but i haven't had major pain, so i'm okay, mine's just the usual implantation cramps and a bad case of upset tummy. if i did have serious pain i'd keep badgering the GP though!!
what about calling NHS direct? they might have some advice for you, what to do next.52% tight0 -

Queen P you need to get to A&E either yourself or ring an ambulance. I had pains at the begining of my pregnancy and I got a sick note to rest up. RU trying to work as well at the moment?
I also got a water infection whilst preganant and that really hurt so it's prob something minor but nonetheless where your baby is concerned don't take risks.
If A & E try to fire you back to GP or make you wait for the 25th Appt say no, and of you have to lay it on thick. At least you would now what the prob was this time tomorrow.
Please keep us up to date
Good luck
Hope you and baby are well

Hi Guys,
Just to update you, my pains continued to get worse, I called the GP in tears and asked for the practice manager to raise a complaint that I couldnt see my GP and the receptionist on hearing that made me a appointment for this morning.
My Gp checked me over, did a sound doppler test I think its called but couldnt hear anything, said this was normal (so i dont know why he was listening).
Said i could have a cyst on my ovary which can happen in pregnancy. Not sure what that means for me.
Has sent me for a early scan (Im 8 weeks tomorrow) which is scheduled for today afternoon.
Are there any preps I have to do before scan? I think I read somewhere I should drink 2 litres an hour before, is this true?
Thankyou.0 -
I don't know about early scans, but the one I had at 20 weeks, I had to drink gallons of water. Just remember, don't start drinking it too early as you will be desperate for a wee right before you go in. Bring a bottle of water with you, so you can tank up on the way and while you are waiting.
I drank several pints of water before going but still had to be sent back out into the corridor with a jug and glass to drink even more!! I was soo desperate for the loo I ran out of that scan room!"I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -

so glad you got that arranged queen p *HUGS*
our scan letters say to drink a litre (or is it 2, not sure, my scan letter is in the post) an hour before the 12 week scan. we don't have to drink at all for a 20 week scan, i can't imagine how uncomfortable that would be lol! i went to the loo just before my scan, how odd that they made you drink alleycat, that's just mean :rotfl:
let us know how you get on queen p!
and no, i don't think they would hear anything with a doppler, not until you're about 12 weeks pregnant i don't think, althogh memory could be wrong on that one. they've never listened to my babies before 16 weeks.52% tight0 -
queen p how are you? Are you back home? Did you have the scan?
My thoughts are with you.
