You have all been fab.. I got my midwife apointment today, its for a months time.. Im actually no longer sure how far gone I am because im growing quite considerably for being just over 7 weeks and I really dont feel its twins so maybe im a little further than first thought?
My last MP was Feb 8th but isnt it possible to bleed even if pregnant? I have to say it was an unusual one that month.
Im gonna go slightly off topic on my own topic lol as its still a question for those pregnant or already had baby/ies.
... Lately Ive had stomach cramps sort of pain... at times its too intense to bear like today... i did ask doctor who said look it up online and I should find its normal..
I think it might be indigestion..except Ive never had it before to know what it feels like.. because the pain wasnt really from right inside doc said it was muscles and or indigestion.. but gave me nothing...
What does indigestion feel like? is it common in pregnancy?
Cheers honeyz.

Indgestion is very common in pregnancy, usually a kind of aching-cramping- burn low in your rib area but it can also cause an acidic stomac which is a really cramping stomach ache. I got really weird cramps around about the 3/4th months of my pregnancy, much lower down in my uterus. Despite monitering etc we never did find out what they were but everything was fine. Try not to worry to much, a little cramping etc is normal, after all lots of things are being pushed out of the way inside! However, if you are at all worried or you start to bleed or become breathless, get to the hospital ASAP to get checked. They never say you are making a fuss when you are pregnant, it's better to be safe than sorry.
Oh and your other point, a light bleed or on-off spotting during the first 6 weeks or so is very normal and it can occur anytime during the first 12 weeks but can be a bit scary if you already know you are preggers. Again, of you are worried, get to the hospital, they would rather check & know everything is OK than have you with high blood preassure 'cos you are worrying!

hi queen p, there's another thread about pain in early pregnancy, loads of us posted on there that we'd been in pain, it's usually something to do with implantation or so we're told :-) when you're pregnant there are hormones released that make everything relax a bit, including your digestive system so you might get some constipation, or if you're like me it will be the opposite. but it can be painful. i get heartburn in early pregnancy, tums make it better though.
when i'm in the early stages i always put on loads of weight really quickly and people talk of twins etc. but i don't think it's anything to do with the baby really, my period was feb 7th so i don't think my womb or contents will be any bigger than an apple probably, it's just water retention or general lardiness that's making me podgy. i know some women who didn't gain any weight until they were about 5 months pregnant, you couldn't tell they were pregnant at all and their babies were just as big as mine lol!
are you having a scan at 12 weeks? they'll tell to the day how pregnant you are at the scan, i'm always ten days more pregnant than i thought but sometimes people are a month further along, i don't know if it matters much except for if you're having the blood tests for downs etc. at 16-18 weeks, if you found you were 16 weeks instead of 12 they'd have to get those tests sorted quickly.52% tight0 -

I have recently found out I am pregnant.. :j :j :j
A doc at my GP surgery has been really unhelpful and not at all reassuring for the issues I have raised (I had an xray in my 3rd week of pregnancy - few days after conception) Im worried I may have caused damage and she told me yes it was likely..
Queen P
Congratulations!
You really shouldn't worry about the x-ray. Unfortunatley most Drs know absolutely nothing about xrays and radiation, and as a result they end up frightening their patients. It is highly UNLIKELY that you have done any damage at all. If you want to post what kind of x-ray you had, I might be able to give more detail and put it into perspective for you.0 -

Hiya,
I had two xrays, well no in fact 3.. 2 were on my lower spine, so my pelvic area etc would have been exposed..
Im trying not to worry about it too much as the stomach cramps im having are taking over the thoughts.0 -

I don't have exact figures in front of me, but what I can say is that the radiation dose that you will have received will be a long way below anything that you have to worry about.
Between about 3-10weeks there is a possible risk of an increase in birth defects, BUT only if the radiation dose is high enough. The radiation dose you will have received is about 10 to 50 times LOWER than that needed to cause those effects.
Remember that there is always a risk of problems with all pregnancies, but you can relax because the radiation you have received will not have increased the risk
Hope this helps0 -
it is quite normal to have lower abdominal pain it is usually caused by the ligaments supporting the uterus stretching with the growing uterus it is sometimes just on one side.0

Hi, there is an article in May's edition of Practical Parenting that discusses the various options for having your baby. If you can't get a copy you can send me your email and I can send you the article if you like.
I had our little monkey in our hospital maternity unit. My sister had hers at a birthing centre. It sounded soo much nicer than our hospital, she actually had her own bathroom!! It was pretty grim where I went, one bathroom between two delivery rooms, really poky as well with a small shower, loo and sink. I ended up having to be wheeled down the corridor at great speed though as there wasn't enough room in there for all the doctors and midwives that had to get involved. Also the maternity ward was small with 8 beds in what usually has only 6 in, in the rest of the hospital. Overall it was okay, the staff were pretty good, but I couldn't wait to get home and so was discharged at 4pm (monkey was born at 1.37am the same day)."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -

Bear in mind that how 'nice' the place is, is only part of it. Surely what really matters is how good is the care you receive? Some of the nicely decorated birthing centres are mid-wife led with no medical support available on site. I'm not criticising the care that mid-wives give, but if there are problems with the birth, it is nice to know that medical support is available. In some centres, this would require an ambulance journey to another hospital.0 -
i couldn't have coped with sharing a bathroom, i was going for a wee every few minutes it seemed lol! and leaving a trail of fluid wherever i went too, so much amniotic fluid! it was bad enough that the loo wasn't ensuite, so i had to walk onto the main corridor each time, with monitors strapped to me, carrying the drip stand, my nightie rucked up because of the monitors on my belly. i'm just glad it wasn't a saturday afternoon so no ward tours, mostly other people in labour and their partners to see me struggling to the bathroom.52% tight0
