I usually put in some or all of the following in various proportions...ginger, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar/white wine vinegar, chilli or sweet chilli sauce, Chinese five spice powder, maybe a bit of sesame oil...

Any particular flavours that you are looking for? Anything you don't like? What do you have in the cupboards?

In the cupboards have: soy sauce, tabasco, the usual herbs and spices; worcester sauce, ketchup, I think that's it ... (don't have chinese five spice) Some fruit.

The only chinese sauce i don't like is the fishy one.

  • Have just added Chinese 5 spice to my shopping list for next week. Sounds like it's a good one to have in :)

    STIR FRY SAUCE

    INGREDIENTS

    1 tablespoon of corn flour
    2 teaspoons of water
¼ of a teaspoon of ground black pepper
    1 teaspoon of salt
    1 tablespoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of dark soy sauce
    1 teaspoon of sugar

    METHOD

Put the corn flour into a cup. Add the water a teaspoon at a time. Stir each time until it has dissolved.

Put the pepper, salt, sesame oil, soy sauce and sugar into another cup. Mix thoroughly

Put the pepper, salt, sesame oil, soy sauce and sugar mixture into a saucepan on a medium heat. Add the corn flour mixture. Cook for 3 minutes until the sauce thickens, Stir continuously.

    ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES

Add ½ a tablespoon of rice wine or dry sherry.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
