Like others i find this all a bit fishy - my 18 month year old nephew is probably 2 foot tall and with his arms up probably has a 3 foot reach.
Most TV's are sat on some kind of table type plinth which are normal about 2 feet off the group whilst a 42" TV will be approx 3 Feet tall. The average weight of a 42" TV is approx 60lb in weight.
I just dont see how a 1 year old could push such a heavy thing over, even if he could reach the top of the TV (which would be close on to 5 feet off floor) it would need quite a shove to even move it let alone get it to topple over.
Now if my curious mind can think these things i'm sure the insurance underwriter will be thinking exactly the same thing.0 -

I have a 2 year old and I am only suprised she has never pushed our 40 inch LCD over, its easily possible even though ours is quite hight up, she loves to throw stuff at it (which her Dad loves as we only had it 3 months), I dont think they are at all heavy like our old CRT. Some of the stands they sell with the tvs are far too low as well, I could easily see how this could happen, was at a friends house last week and hers is very low, a similar 40inch LCD and she has a child the same age who likes to poke the tvit would be very easy for him to push it off the stand.
When we moved house 5 yrs ago we dropped our tv and it bashed a corner of it (it was a massive CRT ) the tv still worked but the top of screen was never the same, got a quote from a tv repairer they said it couldnt be repaired, phoned insurance, they told me to send in the repairers report then advised us to pick from a range (CRT) that was along the same lines costing the same (approx £500) and that was that, if the insurer is any good they will do the same, I was pleasantly suprised with ours. We hadnt claimed before and havent since, ours is a relatively small insurer certainly not one of the larger ones that advertise on tv.
Hope they sort it for you
