The deal you are mentioning is this one...
    http://shop.o2.co.uk/promo/o2mobilebroadband/tab/1_month

This is a rolling 1 month contract and the modem price is £58.71

this i imagine will involve a credit check for the contract but I dont know for sure.

This doesnt seem any different to me than getting a PAYG modem for £30 and topping up with £15 there is no contract involved and no credit check as far as im aware.

My worry is 10hrs is a lot of data, I have had a quick look and most providers seem to cap it at 10GB for about £30 but I dont know how much 10hrs a day of browsing would come to? :/

ta this is what o2 mentioned to me, i won't be using the mobile bb for 10 x7 i only need it as a back up so £15.00 per month will be ok

The free PAYG dongle is still open as far as I can see. No monthly charges, and just pay what you need. £15 will get you 3GB if I remember correctly.

Can I get the above from phones4u / carphone warehouse?

if so, will they set my laptop up in the shop?

if i take my laptop tomorrw to phones4u and they set it up isthat all it'll cost me tomorrow £15.00?

The O2 one is a rolling contract so you have to pay even if there is a month where you don't use it (unless you cancel) and also the modem is free with 3 PAYG (except for 4.95 P&P)

Also with 3, the lowest monthly payment is £10 which gets you 1GB, and as far as I know, £15 for 3GB and £20 for 7GB. Although top-ups only last 30 days from the date you put them on.

OK i'm starting to understand now thx so much

it looks like the 3 deal is the 1 i need, what about the modem tho because o2 charge £58,00 where as 3 there's no mention how much it is/

No you have to get it from that website (I was told at the time it was a genuine 3 affiliated website - my dongle arrived ok)

As for setting it up, just place the sim card in the dongle, plug it in and it installs for you (all you have to do is confirm a few things!)

You must remember though that when you top up, you need to convert it to an internet add-on otherwise you will be charged £1 per 1MB
