You're right scouse - when they say call at your home they mean telephone. I had letter like that from Barclaycard. Scared me to death at first which was obviously what they wanted.

    Thanks Guys.

I feel sorry for anybody out there who hasn't discovered this forum or taken time out to read up on their rights etc, as a letter like that sent to an OAP or an ill person could scare them half to death.

I was more than willing to speak with this creditor at the the beginning of my problems and did on numerous occassions, but we were getting nowhere, I explained my situation over and over again and was told one thing my one person and another by another person, and neither stuck to their word, so in the end you just think what is the point.

  • I think we all need to mind our blood pressures at the moment!!!
A previous poster said that they can't take what you haven't got, and that is so true. We just have to remember that we are all doing our best to pay back what we owe, and like Jilly (great to hear from you!) don't get ourselves in to this mess again. It makes me want to scream when I hear people on TV talent shows using the J word (journey!!!). Well, X Factor is no journey but I think we would all say a DMP certainly is, I don't know what I would have done without all your support on this forum.

All together now (sitting cross legged!) Ommm...

  • Hello everyone

Hope you are all doing ok.

I was getting nusiance texts vis my landline ansaphone from Philips. Don't know what debt it was in conjunction with. Googled it and appears to be a time waster and costs a small fortune to respond too. No letters in the post grrrr. anyway called BT and they gave me an automated number to opt out of these messages, perfect. If anyone else needs it 0800 587 5252

    Hope that helps

    HH x

When I did this, they did warn me that if you are not with BT it may take longer ( we are with Virgin media) but it has worked, brill!!! These numbers used to phone EVERY night at tea time, very annoying. Now peace at last, thanks HH!

'sitting cross legged!' Ha!-chance would be a fine thing :o Hope you're not you're gonna suggest touching toes next?
So agree with you about the support from this forum. Always awed by the depth of knowledge available from some but I believe we all bring something to help each other along.
So can I do the 'Ommm' bit standing up?

Initial letters went off on Tuesday. It is all very quiet. Waiting for the post to arrive. I am sure it can't be much longer. I think we will feel better once things have been acknowledged:o At the moment just feel sick with anticipation. I'm sure things will get more positive, won't they

Yes things WILL get better! :)
And you will grow more confident and adapt to your changed circumstances, knowing you have made the right decision to sort out your financial life for the better. (And once that is in hand then the rest of your life will seem so much more precious.) You'll soon adapt to the DMP way of living.
Keep visiting here for great information and to keep in touch with all who understand.

    hey all

haven't posted on here for agggesss - but as my DMP is nearly a year old - thought i would say hello!!

to all the newbies - please please stick by your guns with phone calls / letters etc - its so hard but you will get through it. I personally found taking the calls & dealing with the letters the best way but i completely ubnderstand if you want to 'screen' calls.

Out of 6 creditors - i can honestly say being up front with them is the best way & i have HUGE debts!

i have 4 deafults on my credit file and funnily enough my hubby has none (he has the largest debt) its so bizzare the way these companies work - and beleive me i know exactly how banks work - i work for one!

have managed the whole year with no ovedraft / no credit cards and actually saving!!! & during this time my hubby was made redundant and then we had a massive car bill for £700 - but we had savings for it and the pleasure in not putting it on the cc was immense!!

i know its not all plain sailing and maybe harder times to come but being on a DMP is the best thing i have done - just wish i had done it 6 years ago instead of taking a secured loan out!!!!!!!!!

    keep smiling / saving...!!!

    sas
    Massive !! LBM June 09 - Debts [STRIKE]£70k [/STRIKE] now £63k (PPI Claim succesfull)

will never ever ever get credit again (couldn't if i wanted!!!! - LOL - have to laugh, keeps me sane.

hi saskia1 - im new to all of this and am just now looking at starting a DMP and am really nervous.

How did you get all of this going? Im basically now looking at a reduced income and we need to get a hold of the debts on credit cards and loans. Did you do this yourself or through the CCCS? How was your creditors response? Im nervous about CCJ's or any bailiffs??

I know i should start sending the first letters to creditors but am putting off as once there sent thats it... you make it sound all so easy!

    Hi,

I've been on DMP for coming up to 3 years this September. Started off with a fee paying, but as of April (1st) branched out on my own.

The transaction was fairly straight forward as I sent letters and I&E to all creditors stating that I was going it alone and would they accept payment directly from me, all bar Cahoot (Santandar sp!) accepted, ("already on a plan and for the duration of the plan would like you to remain with a company i.e. CCCS, etc. etc", I replied that they would be getting more money (was with fee paying for just over 2 years), surely that would be more acceptable, no, as we can't/don't do self-managed DMP's (did give me paying in details, but said that this will not be accepted long term from them), thus far, have received two payments from me self-managing:p, not had any comebacks as yet.

I have Egg (card), all interest stopped, Lloyds (O/draft, loan (got ppi payment on this, reduced debt a great deal) and credit card - been the worst in terms of not dropping charges, these people are the pits and need to go down:mad:) Abbey, MBNA (great with me, don't have that much to pay back, but from the start have been brilliant, stopped interest, etc.), Northern Rock (just hd ppi payment from them which reduced debt further).

Never put a figure on site, but started with debt of 64K under 3 years ago, now at 39K helped with getting ppi payments, but would have been more if I never went with fee paying DMC, but happy that I have now taken the 'bull my the horn'......

Go for it and good luck.
