hi shandypants and welcome
I have just made my first DMP payment and am in the horrible being contacted by creditors phase. The support on here is amazing though, and we will all get through this. Just think, by this time 2011, we will all have reduced our debt by £££'s :j£365 in 365 days - £187/£365

Thanks Iwillgetoutofdebt, just a thought can you tell me how to add a note on the bottom of my postings as I think this might help me actually to see the amount owed figure go down every month. Or at least fingers crossed it will....
I have been reading this thread for ages, you all seem a very good (and wise) bunch! Thanks S xxxDMP Mutual Support Thread No: 367

If you go to the drop down menu under "forum jump" on the top left corner, then select "user control panel". From their you can go to "edit signature" and type in whatever you like.
I hope that makes sense.£365 in 365 days - £187/£365

Hi, well things have been ticking along nicely here - out of the blue today from Cabot Financial who have brought my £15K Egg debt. They've asked me to call them which I am happy to do - they can have what I was paying Egg and no more.
Does anyone have any tips please?
I have 2 Egg accounts - assume the other one for £1K has alos been sold on too - but I will ask when I call.
Thanks0 -

Hi
I had exactley the same letter today for my Egg debt. I rung them and they were really harsh, I have told my DMP company to deal with them. They were demanding that I make full payment or pay £41 a week
Currently I am paying £2.32 a month on my DMP. When I told them this they said they would see me in court and get a CCJ and ut a charging order on my property!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where do these people get off. Have they ever thought that maybe if they spoke better to people they would get further.
Sorry rant over LOL
All I can say is Good Luck and let us know how you get on you sound stronger than me I get upset by these people so easy.
On another note has anyone ever dealt with Fresh Start Financial Management for a DM?#1200 - Sealed Pot challenge £1263/£300
#67 - Virtual sealed pot challenge £360/£300
#64 - £2 coin Challenge £290/£300

Blimey! I've actually logged into the website and put my 'proposal' of £103 to them that way. If they don't like it I'll write. Take a deep breath and remember our saying.......THE CAN'T TAKE WHAT I DON'T HAVE!0 -
Hi everyone.
Wifey and I had our epiphany the other week and ended up speaking to CCCS after a year of worrying/stressing/mail avoiding/phonecall rejecting etc.
we have 10 seperate creditors as it were:
debenhams (santander) cards x 2
barclaycard x 2
mbna card
barclays overdraft
barclayloan
littlewoods
choice
ace catalog
After a nerve racking hour (needn't have been nerveracking - & I'm certain I'm not the only one to experience that feeling afterwards) on the phone going through the budget we now have a DMP. Everything was sent off this week. CCCS agreement, letters to creditors, proofs etc, and we're awaiting responses with baited breath. We've also today made a token payment to each of them.
There's £10,500 in total with £541 monthly obligations. The budget gave us 180 per month so 5 years 4 months and I reckon overtime/occasional bonuses and other ventures (daily clicks and who knows what else after looking around here) will start to bring the term down considerably. First payment Febrauray 1st.
The main concern is the Barclays overdraft because that's what caused the most problems with DD fails, reserve fees etc. Of course we've setup a basic account with another bank so there'll be no further DD fail charges etc and if they do accept then that's the biggest weight off I think. We've accepted CCJs, blue forms, charging orders might happen - we're not doing credit again, period. and we're not selling or remortgaging any time soon. Although of course we'd rather none of that did happen so will be facing up to speaking to the creditors when the inevitable calls come in.
Speaking of the monthly DMP payment, the budget we put together with CCCS gives us a liberal amount of spending money each month I think, especially with the extra income already mentioned. This means regular lump payments or adjustments to the monthly payment I hope.
Since looking in great detail around the site/forums as opposed to the occasional lurk, we've discovered so many ways to save money, like the mysupermarket site etc.
So two things to say before I finish boring you all:
1. Thankyou Martin, staff, admins and members. For running such a wonderful resource, not only for helping to get out of a sticky situation like we hopefully are. But also for all the other useful, erm, well, money saving advice not wanting to state the obvious. I think I've had a life changing thingymebob this week thanks to MSE.
2. Anyone lurking around the site, running scared from the postman and calls from 0845 & withheld numbers. Do something about it, stop hiding mail. Stop paying 1 card off with another. Stop worrying about losing your house, sleeping in your car and having nothing to eat. Cut your costs, use this sites phone recycling site price comparison tool like I just did (80 quid for a phone I haven't used for 6 months - rock on - at ebay they're going for about £50 right now). When you get the cheque, keep the money don't spend it on comfort food or clothing or whatever. put it in the bank, or pay off that catalog that only has a small balance remaining. that's one bill gone.
It really is liberating to accept that your credit rating is ballsed - if you really want to get out of debt, then you'll not be wanting credit again anyway. Even if you do, when you're done it'll get good again and if you've got any sense it won't get screwed again
One confession though, I saw the £10 a day challenge mentioned selling some books through Amazon etc. nope nope nope and again I say nope. I love them, I will not leave them. My books are too precious
Wifey says I'm obsessive
cheers everyone
