IWGOOD- I started my DMP in oct and had calls from Barclaycard and Egg constantly and then the Egg one's just stopped and they were the first to accept and stop interest and charges!?! Barclaycard took a bit longer to stop but 3 months in they have all stopped and I don't really get anything now, although I did get a call yesterday from a debt consolidation loan company, I was so desperate back in the summer and was thinking about loans and all sorts I am so glad I found this thread and dealt with my debts the way I have. Although this isn't exactly the 'easy way out' I feel a million times better as I know that I can't get any further into debt or spend money I don't have it's almost like a new beginning and it's definately a new me! My OH who was really against it at the start is seeing a difference in me and we are both happier and we no longer have massive arguments about £$£$......don't really argue at all anymore it's much much better!!
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D

    Thanks, I will let her know...1 question....what is a 'sub-prime lender'???

Basically not one of the major building society/banks - a lender willing to take a bigger risk on someone whose credit record is not as pure as the driven snow (and we've got lots of that up here in the North at the moment!)
The interest rates of course will be much higher to reflect the bigger risk.

Hello everyone!!! A belated happy new year to all you DFW out there!!!!

Been a while since I posted on here. Have posted elsewhere with various problems been having.

Have realised that becoming Debt Free is never easy things just come and keep knowcking oyu back!!!

Have had to reduce our DMP payment quite a bit due to other bills we werent expecting like unpaid council tax tax bills ( dont you just hate paying tax!!!)

All this and were snowed in on our estate!!! Life just keeps throwing stuff at you doesnt it. Just wanted to say how great the CCCS were other day when I rang spoke to a woman who completely understood what we were going through even manager to have a few jokes with her!!! Theyve helped us so muc hdont know where we would have been without them.

Anyway enough of my ramblings hope everyone keeps going on there own debt free journeys and once again this site is fantastic!!!
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j:j

  • Could I have a number too please

Also, could anyone give me some idea how long the calls from the creditors go on for? This afternoon I have had a barrage of calls from MBNA and Marbles, not to mention emails. I did speak to one woman from MBNA who was extremely rude, and did not seem to listen to me when I explained that I was on a DMP. I hung up on her in the end, and unplugged the phone. I am seriously considering changing our phone number if this is going to go on for months on end.

    Hi
After going through the same with MBNA, I have now found them the most helpful. Have been on DMP for 7 months and just received a letter from them saying they are changing my Terms and Conditions. This will mean I no longer default. They have stopped all interest and charges and re-set my min payment to what CCCS offered.
Had a hearing with NR yesterday who got a Charging Order on my house and even that wasn't too scary. Keep at it, we are doing the right thing by dealing with it and others will recognise that when they have received a few regular payments. Good luck
