Hi all,
Can't remember if I've updated recently or not (and trying to log as much down as possible to help me keep track and also help others).
I've sent off all of my DMP notification letters to creditors (except Bank as we're in the process of moving banks because existing bank is creditor).
I'm just waiting on my wife to get proof of her income (she's been on maternity leave so no recent pay slips) and then I can post off to the CCCS.
I've also started a blog where I'm going to be keeping a log - again, not only for my own sanity (helps me to feel like I'm in control more) but also for anyone else who is considering a DMP.
I don't know if I'm allowed to post the URL to it or not so I won't however I have added a link in my signature but again, I don't know if these are vetted and if so if it will be allowed or not??
Cheers,

Hi everyone hows all the DMPing going. My wife's and mine is ticking along nicely few glitches but trying to sort them out. had a result today got back from seeing my mum over weekend to a letter from my accountants. HMRC have been chasing me for unpaid tax(yes I know naughty boy!!!) but just filled out couple of tax returns and it now appears i owe hell of a lot less than originally thought. I was thinking might owe about 9K or more but it appears I only owe about £4k so bit of a result!!! So glad am now back amongst the employed no more SA for me!!!!
Just need to agree repayment with the lady from HMRC first call i will be making tomorrow!!!Proud to be dealing with my debts :j:j
Debts at start of DMP £31000 :eek:

Hi again,
I personally wouldn't offer anymore than £1140 on a £5700 debt in the first instance. If you have creditors that haven't defaulted you then it's less likely they'll accept F&F settlements.
Those that have defaulted you will more likely accept. Don't forget that DCA's buy these debts for between £0.20 & £0.40 for every £1 you owe. So start at the bottom & work up as & when you feel like it.
Put the offer in writing but don't forget to highlight
WITHOUT PREJUDICE & make clear the offer is only open as long as they mark your credit file as satisfied & remove any default.
Have a look at this site over the weekend as it will give you more idea what to do:-

Hi Geoff
Thank you so much for the above,it has made me so much more positive about what we owe and the way we can get our debts down-as I said I was just going to throw a bit of cash at the DMP via payplan and let them get on with it,but reading the above I have changed my mind
Nearly all our creditors have accpeted the DMP so they havent been passed to a DCA,apart from Natwest, which I believe are in the process of handing our debt over to a DCA-so once I get notification from the DCA I will offer the ammounts as per the link you sent-we owe nearly £6k in total to natwest,so I reckon with the calculations we can get that paid off with the £2k I was gonna pay payplan
Again, thank you so much for the reply
I am sure I will be bugging you again the next few months(wanna get xmas out the way first) for some more info

Hi all!
Wayne I bookmarked your blog - I'll be sure to check back regularly and see how it's going for you.
With regards to F&Fs this is the route I intend to take, I'm gonna pay the DMP as planned (It's actually OH's DMP, my income/expenditure isn't included at all - none of the debt is mine). So since I got my Sainsburys job I'm gonna save as much as I can from that (all household expenses come from OH wage as I didn't work before) and offer F&Fs once I've saved reasonable amounts, just hit em one by one. I'm not even 100% sure if this is allowed, but this is what I intend to do unless someone tells me otherwise. Should be able to clear 2 CCs in about 6 months this way - so fingers crossed. Obviously the big loans (three of em!) will take longer, but the DMP will gradually reduce them whilst we save for F&Fs.
Nothing new on the DMP again. Still no word from MBNA or Northern Rock - I will take that to be a good sign for now. Everyone else has accepted and are happily being paid.
Our budget is really tight this month as I had to pay a vet bill for the cat (not insured - lesson learned) so I was actually really worried I'd have to miss (or greatly lower) this months DMP payment, but as it is I think we will manage to only just scrape by. For future ref has anyone ever had to lower or miss a payment? What happens if this is the case? Do the creditors go in a big huff and stop accepting the DMP?
Life outside the DMP is also bloomin' stressful just now, with Xmas just round the corner and being skint as if that wasn't enough the flippin' car has a light flashing on it saying Engine Failure and I can't afford to even get it looked at until Jan - so no car now and to add to that OHs Mum and brother are being deported from NZ (long story) and are likely to want to stay here at very short notice but A) I have no space,I have enough on my plate C) My kids don't know them at all and my girls don't like strange people - my two year old is going to be very distressed. D) they smoke - disgusting and E) We can't afford to feed another two mouths! It's just all too much for me I just wanna curl up and die quietly in a corner!
I swear everytime I come on here I write a novel the size of War and Peace! :rotfl:
Hope everythings going well with everyone else!I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.0 -
However if you pay the overdeaft off and tell your bank you no longer wish to have this feature ... I suppose there is no problem. You have no debts with your bank, and no OD facility. - in this case... no need to change
I still have an overdraft with First Direct and I've been open with them about my DMP. They've agreed it for another year, by which time I'll have made a conscious effort to pay it off... I don't want to lose the account as it's got the good old 'Visa' debit card attached to it... convenience more than anything...

Hello All
Not posted for a month and look what happens! Just caught up with you all and it’s good to see how much progress we’re all making collectively :j
Just a quick update from me as I’ve not posted since the ‘wine’ session and no I’ve not passed out lol…
Simply Be (Candid Collections) have been the worst offenders in terms of logistics.. all payments have been going (the last three) to Littlewoods instead of them so they’ve been harassing me at least 10 times a day and clogging up my letterbox with debt advice adverts, payment demands and threats to sell on…
Nationwide have been complete pains in the backside bless them.. agreed to three months DMP payments and stopping interest.. now they’ve re-read my budget and got the wrong end of the stick (essentially thinking that I’m earning more than I’ve stated) and are talking about selling the debt on. I called them ‘IMMEDIATELY’ to discuss the account and was told that I need to pay 200 now or my debt will be sold on and will likely be taken to court. I told them I’m still earning peanuts and to sell my debt on.. the lady said it ‘wasn’t a very good idea and no you don’t really want it to be sold to a DCA’… short of begging her lol… default me at least! Go on… you know you want to!!! Didn’t say that though.
Lloyds are being lovely and fluffy… decided to play a little game with them see how long it lasts.. DMP payment is £0.24 short of the minimum payment required.. they wrote to me saying I’d defaulted, not had a minimum payment blah and the payment of £0.24 is immediately payable on the account or we’ll take you to court.. blah. I paid £0.21 into the account two weeks ago and £0.03 today lol.. I’m easily amused… see how long it takes them to process it…
MBNA are being complete stars – never expected it.
Alliance and Pester have defaulted me… woo! Think they’ve just thrown their toys out the pram and given into the fact that I am skint and they’ll have to wait for their money…
It’s all fun !

I'm with CCCS and this seems to one of the crucial differences - that you can actually see who has accepted/not and the current state of play with your creditors. I have stacks of letters from my 3 creditors. Some clearly accepting but one very confusing - defaulting/adding interest/excess charges, taking my money but generally doing my head in!
Glad you've had a good day - may there be many of them soon.

Gah - bloomin Marbles have charged me a late payment fee AGAIN, I've talked to them and explained that I'm with CCCS and they pay on a fixed date.DFD - June 20120

Hello! It's been very quiet the last few days, where is everyone?
Just a quick question from me I paid my DMP this morning (standing order) somewhat daftly before I checked the statement - the statement is dated 25th Nov and says next payment due Jan 1st 2010....why was the payment not due Dec 1st? Did I just pay when I didn't need to?! Or do they just date it strangely? Would someone else mind checking their statement to see if it is the same?
