  • Hi
I'm just in the process of starting my DMP with CCCS, my current account is with Alliance & Leicester but I don't owe them any money, do I still have to switch banks for a basic account or can I stay with them and the account I've got?

You can stay with them providing you don't have any debts with Santander (Abbey & Bradford n Bingley). You'll prob have to get rid of any overdraft facility as well, as that counts as additional debt, if you were to go into it.

Andy - thanks so much for that info. I didn't realise that. Guess they won't be getting that either then. LOL They're not going to be happy bunnies when they get a return letter with just a basic incomings/outgoings, are they? Oh well. Are they entitled to get that? I don't want to be uncooperative, but at the same time, I don't want to hand them info I shouldn't be handing them either. I am checking that site too, thanks.

Just a quick question re bailiffs. Am I correct in thinking they only get involved when there is a court judgement against you or when it's council tax, right? So you'd generally know they were involved prior to one showing up on your doorstep?

I hate it when people moan that it's cold. It's winter !!!!!!! And it's good for you. Summer's Summer, Winter's Winter (though for how much longer I don't know).

I only quoted that saying because it means (to me) that you never know what turns up, not actual snow, hopefully. ;)

Ps Thank you for helping Trebor41. You would LOVE an Irish winter, we take the worst of the Atlantic for you guys, just to make life a little easier for you, haha!!

Felt terrible last night so cut and ran to see to the family today and feeling a bit better now. (Who else but your Mother loves you so unconditionally? and says 'You were too good for him' and cries with you?)
So when I feel a bit stronger there will be a 55 year old, slim, blonde female with warm caring nature,GSOH and financial difficulties available if anyone knows a stray millonaire :)
Perhaps I could start my own dating site? 'Over The HIll and Skint.com' ;)

(Thanks to Tooth Fairy, Gpuk and all for your kindness and support - it has helped me so much when I have been in this dark place)
  • Oh b**ger, my washing machine has just blown up......

No emergency fund. ~ Large car bill last month
CCCS can't stop this month's payment- due Mon
School uniforms needing washing for Mon
    Nearest laundrette 25miles
    Nearest family 60miles

Where oh where can I buy a very cheap W/M quickly. I usually do 10 loads a week which means a hell of a lot of hand washing for the forseeable future.

    Any suggestions greatfully recieved. Thanks

    Becks.

Begorra and it's thankful we are to be sure! Perhaps it's the magical influence of the leprechaun (or the Guiness) you'll be having there? :D

Have you tried E-Bay or even better one of the 'Freecycle' websites where people advertise their unwanted goods for free? Some bigger charity shops have electric goods for peanuts.
Also try 'Comet' clearance site - slightly shop-soiled items for bargain prices.
In the meantime throw yourself on the mercy of friends to help out?
Otherwise it's going to a grubby looking future in the short-term ;)
Good luck-hope you get something sorted soon.
  • Thanks Twitty,

I know my problems are minor to some, esp. yours at the moment. But in the past I would have slapped it on the CC and forgot about it.

I'll give freecycle a try also I'll check out some clearance sites as-well. It's the time of year I suppose, every spare penny was being thrown to Xmas. I hear beans on toast is very good for you. Mind you 24/7 may be a bit too much:D:D

Also need to buy a new radiator 1 of ours is leaking which will cost £100 to replace. Oh well these things are sent to test us and make us stronger I suppose.

    ((Hugs to you))

Ooh I know!!! (To quote Sybil from Faulty Towers) On to the CC - it's not REAL money is it?
Too many beans is not good - healthy but the stomach yearns for finer fare!
Thanks so much for your kind thoughts and hugs (really appreciate them at the moment) We all need to remember life stinks sometimes. (Broken washing machine or not ;))
