Of course that makes sense Triggles, sadly I'm like your OH, want to respond straight away......when I felt I was having a breakdown last Sunday I decided enough was enough and I won't be doing that anymore! It was horrible, I think it was almost like a stress/panic attack, dizzy, shaky oh it was not nice!
Going to make that CCCS call now.......Total Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
Northstar - of course, I'd like to be able to deal with it daily as I worry that if we don't reply soon enough they'll think we're playing games or something, but with a toddler and an infant to take care of, household to keep up, and my sanity to keep in check, I have to be able to focus. If I dealt with it every single day, I am worried I would get stressed and depressed about the debt, as I am the one doing the bulk of the paperwork. And I just keep telling myself "they're going to get our money, they are NOT getting my life as well!" The whole reason for the DMP is so that we can get to grips with our debt and still have a life for our family - so I am determined to hang on to that.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Oh absolutely Triggles!!! I love that quote of yours up there, I highlighted it. Same here, same pressures. There comes a point where we say enough is enough and they just have to blooming wait!! We are doing the right thing, we are not ignoring it. We have to hang onto that all the time. I love LMS's signature thing too, about no one can touch her family.Total Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
I am stunned!!!!!!!!!
We have been accepted on the DMP with the CCCS starting December!!! The Welcome Pack is on the way!!!
Having been told it was going to take 17 years 9 months to pay it all off, with the adjustments etc the term has now GONE DOWN to 13 years 4 months! :T:T:T:T OH will be 64 OMG and I will be 54 then!!!!! Maybe I need to change him for a younger model LOL :rotfl:
Of course we very much hope the debt will come down more quickly as I will try to get an extra day's work in once my little one starts school full time in Sept 2010, then hopefully OH's work will pick up.
Barclays and Alliance & leicester...surprise surprise.....are still charging interest so our debts with them have gone up :mad::mad: but hopefully they will stop once they hear from the CCCS.
I feel so relieved. I phoned OH, I phoned my mum and had a cry and now I'm here! Bailey where are you hun? Have you heard anything yet?
Soooo, I am going to happily adjust my sig now to show the new term, and the debt has been readjusted slightly and is now completely up to date so hopefully, as each month goes by I can start crossing it off as it reduces!!!
Then we have the court date in Feb with Alliance & Leicester......but I am not even thinking about that now, I will focus on that in January.
Now I need to try and cut the shopping bill further and see how I can get my girls some little pressies because it is going to be very very tight in December.
BUT WE ARE IN!!! :T

Hello to all fellow DMP'ers
Havent posted for a while has there has nothing to report on re my DMP,will give u a recap:
11 creditors
7 accepted
4 being a pain in the a**e(all Natwest)
Around £40k debt-at the rate we are paying of will finish in 2030!?!?
I had to take a pay cut and OH on maternity leave-she finishes that in May(paid-but only SPP) and can have until August off unpaid
We dont really want her going back to work as we want her to stay at home with baby and it may not be worth putting baby into chid care as it is too expensive-she may end up working just to pay nursey-also we have no family local so no free child care
We currently own a one bedroom flat which is getting too small for us so will have to move in the next 6-12 months(if not sooner-just waiting for the property prices to go up to what we paid for it and then sell)-now here lies the problem:
Doubt we will be able to get another mortgage due to the DMP-so was thinking of renting a bigger place for a while and any money we make from the sale of the flat put to one side for a deposit for a later date-and also wanted to sell fast(ish) incase one of the creditors decide to take a charging out on the flat
OH is concerned that if we sell the flat we may never be able to get another mortgage again cos of the DMP...or we could rent the flat out so we still have the mortgage, but still may be a danger of a chargin order at a later date or the problem of not having tenants in there and having to find the mortgage for a month or so and the rent on a new place....
Also have just received a bonus at work of £8.5 k-which was a massive surprise-not to sure either to throw it all at the DMP to get it paid off-or just pay £1k to the DMP and spend around another £1k to get the flat up to scratch to sell and keep the rest as a back up to get us by while the OH is off and we decide if she is to go back to work or not....
If we did sell and put the cash to one side could creditors find out how much we made on the sale and ask for the cash or could we say that we had to pay back a family member who lent us the deposit in the first place??
I am a bit fuzzy in the head at the moment as to what to do,we really need to start making decisions in the new year so any input ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thank you0 -

Hi Sandalwood,
I'm not really sure what to suggest, I am sure someone will be along to advise you. I'm a bit fuzzy today too after all my calls/news so I best keep my mouth shut in case I advise wrongly.:DTotal Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
Hi Sandalwood, I would suggest you get in touch with whoever you have your DMP with and ask them what is the best thing to do. I thought I saw somewhere that all windfalls etc should be used towards your debt but I am sure all personal cases are different. As you said your situation is not cut and dry so it may make sense to keep some until you know your future situation. Cant help you anymore Im afraid as I am still new at this. LBM 23-10-2009 - Total unsecured debt £39,638.65 _pale_
