    Hi everyone..

Feeling quite frustrated. Been on the DMP for 8 months now and it seems that Im not really seeing a difference - the only one Im seeing a difference in is my Citi Mastercard - its almost back under its limit and that one was horrifically out of control.
However my catalogues dont seem to be going down any  I know that they are but I just dont seem to be seeing a difference  or maybe it just because I never had any idea of what the balances were - I just used to pay the minimum it told me to online and ignoring the statements! Im also sick to death of wrangling with Reliable Collections every month just because they dont like Kensington's payment dates

Getting a bit fed up now - my DFD seems a long time away! By the time my weekend off comes this weekend I will have worked 13 days with only one day off  Think of the money, think of the money... :D

  • Hey all saw this and decided to pop in and nose around.

Did my CCCS debt rememdy today and am now awaiting the paperwork to embark on a DMP. Can't wait to get it all sorted, I have a feeling it's going to take a while before things calm down and we get into the monthly flow of things.

Am worried about one thing though...Hubby has changed from working for his company via an agency to working for them directly. This meant a small token pay rise but also a stunt on emergency tax till they got his P45 back, so last months pay cheque was short and this months was more because of the funded tax...so had to guestimate the figures. Hope it doesn't skwiff things up when we send his pay slips in as proof of payment but we shall see...either way, I'm thinking things will calm down come January...I certainly hope so!

Welcome to everyone that has popped in, or about to start on their DMP's.

First Rule .. No matter how bad it seems ... Dont Panic. you are dealing with your debts, and even though it may be a far way off, you have a target to work to.

Second .. If your getting grief from debt collectors or phone calls, write to them tell them that it is unacceptable to be recieving calls at all hours and up to 4 / 5 times a day. Demand all communication be in writing and not by telephone, Give them your DMP company details and tell them they have been authorised to act on your behalf. Quote the fact that any further calls will be treated as harrassment and they will be reported - Donot let this get you down.

Third. Even though you donot see yoru debts decreasing, give it time ... remember the DMP is structured to bring all your debts down at the same time ( or there abouts ) and yoru Debt Free Date will see the bonds of bad debt broken. - Hang in there.

We had issues with BarclayCard and Mercers too. Barclays accepted our DMP and then passed us to Mercers who got very nasty. 2 Letters Later it turns out it shouldnt have been passed and Mercers went away. These people do make mistakes and are not fallible dont accept that you are the onle people who have made mistakes...

Lastly, Have a Laugh at their expense .... when you look at your debt, just remember that the UK giovernment has just bailed the banks out to the tone of quite a few Million £££ using tax payers money.
So essentially, your tax collected from your salary has been used to bail out the people that you owe money to higher up the chain. They are no better than us ...:rotfl:

  • Hi all!
Been having a nose on here for a while and after my phone appointment with CCCS this morning i was wondering if i could join you all on here?

We have been told we can be debt free in 5 yrs paying £450 a month and its amazing what a difference that phone call has made: a huge weight has been lifted, but now i guess we're in for a rough few weeks (or even months) when our creditors realise we're on a DMP!
How was everyones experiences of the first few weeks? The man at cccs said that from the list of creditors we have, most will accept but we have the dreaded LLYODS and from what ive read on here they can be quite tricky!
Hope everyone has a good day im off to start my xmas shopping - this yr i actually have a list and im going to stick to it!

Welcome. 5 years isnt so bad, and once you get the hang of things, you may be able to knock a few months off that figure too.

Yes, your gonna get hassle, but were all here, some have been though it, some are going through it, but it does get better. They will also hound you for more money. just stay strong and remember they cannot have what you havnt got.
You also have a right to have enough money to live on BEFORE they get any.

  • Hi

I will join this post, looks good, so hello:beer:

I am also after some advice

The father of my children has suddenly decided he's not going to pay maintenance:mad: so it's all going legal and could take up to 12 months to sort out.

As a result, I am now £200 down a month:(

I've been doing my DMP with PAYPLAN for 2 years now with no problems anymore BUT now I am going to have to offer a payment about 1/3 of what I was paying before

I honestly can't handle anymore stress, and I just can't handle all the calls/letters and threats that will start again:( I get so scared of creditors taking things legally against me and I can't handle it all starting again. My now husband is disabled, and although I work 3 days a week I also am studying for my degree, so I am working so hard to sort this out

Should I call some of the previous worst offenders of my DMP and explain?

Will they take me to court?

Oh i wish I could do a DRO, but I can't because I have a (Very small) pension sum of money - we're talking £352!!!!!!

aDVICE Please, and any positive stories (Or negative!!!)

  • Hi there to all those starting out on the DMP road to debt free living, stick around this board and you'll find all sorts of invaluable help when you need it most.

Thought I'd pop in and give an update and hopefully stick around a bit more, never seem to find the time working fulltime with 2 young kiddies and an old kiddy to look after (DH btw:D).
Anyways all creditors have now stopped charging interest :T:T:T:T. These include:
    MBNA x 3 CCs
    RBS CC
    Tesco CC
    HBOS 2 x CC + 1 loan
    GE Money 4 x loans
    Style CC
    Next Account

Ge Money were the last to give in after I wrote them a rather in depth letter re how much interest they were charging against how much I was paying and the fact that the debt wasn't reducing. The said ok we'll stop interest.... didn't realise my writing skills were that persuasive but I'm not complaining.

Oh and I've also been aboard to Oz & Malaysia using a pre-paid travel card from Travelex with no problems which again proves that you don't need a CC to travel (btw it was work not leisure travel)

    Catch you all soon

only today i got the courage to ring CCCs and get this sorted.

i was a bit gob smacked when they said i should go down the bankrupcy route. im really upset but i have opted for the DMP.
Whether they can help or not is a different matter. im really upset, i have a baby on the way and im scared that the creditors wont accept the DMP.

can i please have some reasurrance, from those who have already gone through this and explain to the me the process.

i have pasted the my financial summery below.

    Your Financial Summary
    Monthly income = £1499

    Monthly priority outgoings = £1465

    Monthly contractual payments = £212
