Hmm I'm getting a bit worried here, the lads/ladies ratio is a bit lopsided isn't it! Who's going to bagsy Geoff and Cocker? Where has Cocker disappeared to by the way?

YOU'RE getting worried??? I'm leaving the country (Budget airline of course ;))

I'm sure they do really! :shhh::rotfl:
I'm 26, been with my OH for 8 years - we have 3 beautiful daughters and no debt collector can ever touch our family.
LBM: 03/10/09 Unsecured Debts: 69K  DMP Start Date 01/11/2009.
  • Glad everyone is bearing up under all the stresses and strains.

Got OH's Virgin/MBNA c/c statement this morning. Only had last month's DMP payment of £124 and interest £0. Nearly danced around the floor, as the interest on that previously was truly shocking. Can't wait for that to happen to some of our Newbies, you really feel you are getting somewhere.
    I used to hide c/c statements - I can't believe I did that now!

    That's fab! :T:j:T

MBNA stopped my interest and charges as soon as I missed two payments, they've actually been really good that way. They are getting £40 less on the DMP than they were with the previous arrangement so I know they're not gonna be happy, but they can take what they get and like it :rotfl:

Oh, and if you think hiding them is bad I got so sick of letters from DCAs I went through a phase of every single time one came through the door I didn't even open them, I marched through to the kicthen and put them straight through the shredder. I didn't read a letter for months before my LBM! Sounds pathetic now, but at the time I just couldn't bear it! It was like if I didn't read them it wasn't happening. Duh. :rotfl:

Hahaha! That made me laugh! My OH would have a fit if I had a shredder in the kitchen - the knives worry him enough!
Thank goodness it isn't just me who behaved like that. As you say, it's as if hiding it makes it all go away.
I'm going to Twitty's party with Kudox - he's funny!
    OMG! I hope he's a bloke...:o

Not that going with another girl wouldn't be fun too! (Someone hand me a spade please!)

    Afternoon everyone,

Just thought I would pop on while I'm supposed to be working for some TLC and hugs.

Just heard the news I have been dreading. There is a partners meeting next week and it looks very likely I will be getting my marching orders. The business is going downhill fast and I will probably be made redundant

I can feel my blood pressure rising by the minute. I have only just sent my DMP pack off, I dont want to have to contact them again before its even started. I dont want to be made redundant (again I might add), at least the last time I got laid off I had a massive payout (which cos I am rubbish with money I spent instead of saving for a rainy day or another redundancy) this time I will be lucky to get one months wage.

I am getting desparate for a baby and have been putting it off cos of the money situation but if I dont get pregnant soon it will be too late, my clock is definately ticking very loudly. With all the stress though and the OH working away mon-fri its very unlikely its going to happen.

On the plus side, and luckily there is a plus I must remeber that. I have unemployment cover thank goodness so even though its not as much as my wage there will be an income there for me, unless the small print in the policy means I cant get my money. I will have to borrow money until the cover kicks in though. So although I really dont need this right now, everything happens for a reason (cant see why this is happening right now though). And then I will have the worry of trying to find another job that pays what I am earning now. I work in finance (office admin) so half the country is probably unemployed and looking for jobs that works in this sector. At least I will have a few days off over Xmas!

Sorry for rambling specially when you are all being positive and some people have much more worries than me like family members in hospital and sick kids. Just needed to vent and you are all so lovely I am sure you wont mind. I cant talk to anyone else that understands the way that you all do about what I am going through at the moment.

  • Bailey59 - Aww poor you! ( A big hug from me) it's all happened at once hasn't it?

I'm sorry I can't give any practical advice about your finances, hopefully one of the other posters can. All I can suggest is, take one thing at a time to worry about and try your best to stay calm, the meetings not till next week so try to put a plan together before then.
I am truly sorry to hear about all your troubles and I wish I could offer more than just support. We are all here for you x

  • Awww Bailey, I feel for you. I can't imagine the stress of being made redundant at the same time as all of this going on. But, don't worry yourself sick over it. I know it's easier said than done - but at the end of the day it's out of your control and worrying about it won't change anything.

Don't worry at all about venting here to us, your problems are no less important or valid than anyone elses, and that's what we are here for - support when you need it. We're all in it together xxx

  • Really sorry to hear that you might be made redundant Bailey but keep your chin up and wait and see what happens next week. It seems like we make two steps forward sorting out our debt problems and then take 1 step backwards.

Northstar I hope your mum is feeling better today and recovering from her op.

This forum has become addictive I log in and have a read when I get to work, at lunchtime and then when I get home. It does make you feel better though as someone always has something positive to say about starting a DMP. I have sent out all my DMP notification letters which all apart from 1 has been received and 4 have even cashed the token payments. Now that I have finally managed to get all the 12 creditors details together I can send it all off to the CCCS but dont think I will be in time for a 1st December start so looks like Jan 2010 for me. It has been a good day today no 0800 or 0870 calls at all, no nasty letters yet and I even plucked up courage to speak to the lady from HMRC who phoned for me yesterday and I told her I was off work for the day and when she phoned back today I said yes it was me speaking and she asked me to do a survey for some help line I had called for work a couple of weeks ago. I could have danced for joy and was so nice to her after that she probably wondered what was going on. Oh what a relief when I found out it wasnt about our DMP :j
